Just a question!

Hey guys,

Recently, I had an idea while reading about article marketing. It is often good practice to write an original article and submit it to EZA, and then later on submit tweaked or slightly modified (or according to some 'gurus', even the same article) to multiple directories to get maximum exposure possible.

I was left wondering if the same principle could be applied to forum marketing as well. Many IMers submit an article or (as it is called) forum posts in order to get people's attention and make them click the signature link below. They use this strategy on a few forums.

But, isnt it possible for them to make an original post to a forum and then make tweaked, modified or even exact same posts to a dozen great forums to get more attention. I havent tried this myself or heard about this method from anyone. I just wanted to know, if it is possible. Secondly, will/do the forum moderators accept this behavior.

Cheers,
Ryzon

I know your posts wasn't an article. Some people get a little jumpy around here... I had a BAD day yesterday! LOL!

You could very well post GREAT content in a forum in the form of a post. Forums are more often used as grounds for learning and asking questions. If you have something awesome and unique that you think members could benefit from... Then by all means share it with us! And any other forum that might benefit from your post.

If you spit out information to a bunch of avid IMer's that isn't really that useful... It's going to look like spam and get called spam. A duck isn't a cat! :p

If you're thinking that an amazing post will rank high in the SERPs if someone is looking up what you're talking about in your post... You're right, it can!

But if it's more of a plain jane statement and doesn't get a RAVE response by the forum members, it will probably just be buried and useless. And I'm one of the first to call out Warriors for posting Spam/Crap/Affilitate Links/Shameless Self-Promotion. There's enough of that going on in the WSO section :p

        CHEERS!

You are likely to get them deleted here. You are asking if you can spin articles and paste them into numerous forums rather than having real discussions.

If they were real discussions, they would not be the same post or even close to it unless all the forums were having exactly the same discussion.

No one can tell you if you will get into trouble with it anywhere else, but I already gave you the link showing you that article type posts aren't welcome here.

Thanks Scott for your explanation. I do appreciate your response.

But, forgive me if I did not state clearly in my post, lol, but my question is :

'Can you make similar or slightly modified posts in multiple forums without getting in trouble' ?

It depends on the forums. And their moderators.

Suzanne referred you to the thread she linked because we get a lot of people doing 'drive-by' posting; they want the signature links and clicks without actually participating in the discussion.

Similar, tweaked, slightly modified or not, those drive-by posts often read like an article dumped on a directory for the same reason, and that isn't the purpose of this discussion forum.

Just for reference, this is a discussion, so it's welcome. You didn't just dump and run.

Yes, there are software that allow you to copy, save, and paste messages into forums, save login details, etc. However, you should be careful when doing this in the IM niche or well any niche for that fact because lots of people are members of more than one forum and could easily catch on to what your doing and call you out on it.

    Hope this helps
