REPEAT CUSTOMERS!

I never anticipated repeat customers from the old site owner. I bought an expired domain in an ecommerce niche and I am getting emails from people that bought products from the site previously and would like me to direct them to the new product page so they can purchase again.

EPIC!!!

No. I've got too many domains as it is, thanks.

You just have to be careful and research the domain first.

Several years back, there was an expired domain in one of my niches that was available. I thought I might be able to get some new customers out of it, as well as the benefits of the backlinks and so forth.

But, upon researching the domain and the company that was behind it, I found that the former owner had left quite a trail of unhappy people. There were complaints that he took their money and never delivered the product and so on. Lots of lots of bad word of mouth on this one.

I opted not to purchase that one because you're going to have a lot of angry mentions out there on your domain name and not every one is going to update their posts (or be able to) in order to say that it's under new ownership. Plus, given that the former owner was apparently some kind of ripoff artist, who is to say they would even believe it had changed ownership? Some might think the guy changed his name to try to ripoff more people.

Maybe stuff like that could be overcome, but, on the other hand, I figured there were better ways to spend $10.
