A Cautionary Tale
I know that more experienced warriors know that you should always focus on your own websites, so that YOU own the content, and then use Squidoo and the like to build supporting links and content, but plenty of newbies still start off by building content on sites that they don't control.
Here's an example of 2 pages pushing Clickbank products that I recently came across. Both pages rank highly for their keywords, and both have around 5000 inbound links according to yahoo site explorer.
Oh, and BOTH have been LOCKED by Squidoo. Check it:
Squidoo : show
PR2 - 5577 links according to Yahoo
Squidoo : show
PR4 - 4994 links according to Yahoo
These are not my lenses, just lenses that I came across. I have no doubt that based on their position in the SERPS, someone was making plenty of sales and a nice income with both lenses.
In a flash all of that is gone.
As anyone can tell you, getting 5000 links built and indexed is a very time consuming and potentially costly process.I realize that Squidoo is easier to get to rank well, but the risk simply isn't worth the reward.
Get your own website, and build links to your own website, and then no-one can ever take that away from you!
I'm all about that bass.
