Do pro's pointing url at hosting, or get hosting with url?

Hi Guys,

I originally bought 1 domain with hosting and had one site, then when i created the second site I did the same thing (stupidly?).

I am getting the impression that the way to do things, is to get 1 hosting agreement and then create multiple sites on that domain and then buy URL's to point at them?

Is this right?

eg www.example.com/review www.example.com/health
Both under the same domain but with forwarding from www.health.com

Also are there any other things that need to be done here? In wordpress for example do i need to change the website address in general settings of wordpress so it appears correctly?

I am not sure what exactly is your prob?
If you need multiple sites you can use sub-domains
    ex health.mydomain.com, education.mydomain.com, travel.mydomain.com
and if you wish to redirect all of these to mydomain.com you'll have to add a simple .php file or provide a permanent redirect to your domain through your control panel

Creating mydomain.com/health is creating a folder /health which is not what you should be doing.

If you have multiple domains you can do "Addon Domains" from your control panel, lets say you added mynewdomain.com, so the folder will be public_html/mynewdomain.com which will be seperate from mydomain.com and both will be different sites alltogether
    Hope i helped?

The way you want it, it is easy with wordpress. Just install wordpress on mydomain.com and create different categories using wordpress like mydomain.com/health etc etc

    Thanks S,
Just to clarify, I want to create multiple seperate websites but only pay for 1 hosting package. Say my hosting provider allows me to create 7 wordpress sites under one hosting package. i want to be able to buy a domain name and point it at the folder location so that it appears that my websites are seperate.

I don't want to use subdomains because i don't want to advertise the address of my current url for all my ventures.

    Thanks,

In that case you have to use addon domains feature
see this, it will clear your worries
cPanel Tutorial - Addon domains (Not my site, just a G sweep)

Now lets say i added 3 domains
    1.com
    2.com
3.com and my mother domain is 0.com
So i will login to 0.com/cpanel
    go to file manager
public_html i will upload whatever i want to show on 0.com
public_html/1.com upload files here what i want to show on 1.com
public_html/2.com upload what has to be shown on 2.com and so on

Make sure your host supports addon domains, and 0.com, 1.com, 2.com are now showing different things
    Thanks,
