A fair amount of visits daily yet no ads clicked?

Hello, I have a problem.

My website is getting about 30-100 visits a day (which I know isn't that much, but still) Yet I am still getting on average 1 click a week if that.

How could I maximise the ad clicking? Is it the way I have laid it out?

Any help is appreciated thanks.

    I think all it is related to the niche and on 30-100 visits per day the ctr should be none to 1.

        That would be the main reason. The CTR is like this 1-2%. So if you want to make money then you will need a lot of traffic, like 10000-20 k visitors.

          Not necessarily. One of my sites gets similar traffic levels and my CTR is 3-5%, meaning in real terms I get between 1 and 5 clicks per day, most days.
          CTR is dependent upon a few different variables (assuming Adsense as the vehicle). Just a few of them are:

          1. Quality of traffic. Did they come from search engines? My experience is that SE traffic give a higher CTR than referral traffic.
          2. Page layout and ad placement (look up the Adsense page heatmap for more info).
          3. Ad block format - colouring, shape, size, etc.

          You can still make money with low traffic if your content is good enough and you've integrated your ads properly. Granted, it won't be big money.

    Text ads convert better than banner ads. Try using text ads above the fold and see if that helps.

    Also, if it is that Minecraft site, perhaps you could think about putting some text based ads on the right side, especially on the sub-pages where you already have a two column set-up.

    Banners convert badly on blogs. i'm about to take down all of my image banners. text banners are best - and home grown, i.e. make your own. the less flashy the better. as for sales, you probably need way more traffic than 100 a day, even though that's not bad.

    thing is your site looks like a site of useful tips - so traffic is going to be freebie-seeker in character. consider using some buy keywords. create a recommend or review page and a widget that does the same thing. and if you want people to buy i think you have to be more upfront about it. get someone excited about the idea of buying - at present your site lacks that 'buying buzz'. hope this helps.     You should check your bounce rate. I think visitors visit your site but do not stay more time and due to this there is no click on ads.

    I really think that if you have 30-100 visitors to your website BUT they are not targeted visitors, you are just wasting your time. So make sure that your visitors are TARGETED.

    If you're talking about the site in your sig file it's no wonder no one is clicking. I doubt they even stay for more than a few seconds. Why would they? You have a cube thingy up top that tells visitors absolutely nothing. What the heck is this site all about? If you want people to click on the ads, whether banners or text they need a reason to stay on the site for a while.

    You have no headline, no attention grabber at all. Most won't even know what the site is about. Just having a Website doesn't mean anyone cares. You have to make them care. Explain what Mindcraft is. Engage your visitors. People want to be educated and entertained and they'll stick with sites doing those things. Your page needs a complete overhaul if you want any kind of activity.

    One other thing and this even more important than sprucing up the site. The banners I saw during my very brief visit were totally unrelated to what appears to be your niche. Why would anyone interested games be clicking business opportunity ads? If you want clicks you need to put up ads related to your site. Good luck.

    One good way to see what you're doing wrong is to study your competition. Just type in the google search some of your keywords and start taking notes based on what others are doing.
    But again, you will need to test your placement with the google adsense channels and of course provide the quality content.

    How focused is your page? It should have a clear message - don't distract your visitor (potential customer) with too many choices.

      I used Google analytics to help me find out where the traffic was coming from and most was from Google or my sig on the Minecraft forums, therefore I would expect the audience to be targeted.

      People should already be targeted as knowing what Minecraft is, Most people who visit the site are looking for the latest news in the way of the game and tips and tricks.

        You asked why you're not getting clicks. It's because there's no compelling reason to stay on your site. You can be offended or you can learn. You're not the first to get good advice and ignore it. So it goes...

    It still may be a good idea to give a little intro into Minecraft. It gives the page a better feel overall.

    Honestly, I think the main reason is that the ads don't have anything to do with Minecraft. I keep getting make-up ads and other people seem to be getting business ads.

    If you are looking to further monetize that site, something I would suggest....

    Minecraft is a growing game. Content is going to continue coming out for years to come. It also has a huge fan base, myself included. This is an easy opportunity for a mailing list. Grab an autoresponder and send out updates and tips. You can write up a quick "Minecraft Tips and Tricks" book to give out if people sign up for your mailing list. You could even write a longer guide to Minecraft and sell it, offering to send updated versions of the guide as the game updates.

    The most commonly used one is Aweber. It costs $1 for the first month and then $20 after that. GetResponse and MailChimp both have free versions until you get to a certain number of subscribers, though MailChimp won't allow you to advertise affiliate programs later. ListWire is a 100% free autoresponder though they do have a small text ad on the bottom of emails sent through them.

    Personally, I ended up not using GetResponse free because they limit how many emails you can send a month.

    Glad you liked the idea. I went on ClickBank to try and find you an affiliate program and realized there were none there, I assume because of how often you would need to update. You have a few options with the book. You can sell it and offer free updated versions, you can offer discounted updated versions, or you can have people pay full price for updated versions.

      Okay, In the way of auto-responders I am not yet sure.

      But in the way of the book I could offer shorter less in depth free version then a small price for the updated one?

      And for the mailing service for a "newsletter" of tips what should I do there?

        For the main book, include things like how to get started, common strategies, more advance ideas. Include a chapter on seeds, where to mine things, include the different crafting recipes, stuff like that. Offering it for around $10 you could probably get some sales coming in.

        For the smaller report you could offer it specifically on mining, or seeds, or something like that. Or do something like "25 Minecraft Ideas You Never Thought Of" and write about some interesting map projects.

        As for newsletters, this is where you could link to cool youtube videos, talk about upcoming updates, and share interesting Minecraft ideas you read about. You could also share new map packs you find.

    I think u should try another template. The one you have now seems very bland, almost lifeless. Add some pop to your pages. You may also want to ad some pics of people playing, game play vids and liven it up a bit. That's my first impression. Also try adding some text ads in there. Find some related CB offers, as well as other CPA offers and game downloads.

    Are you just going to monetize your website with ads? You could do a little research and see if you could find anything affiliated with minecraft? I'm not sure, I can't see minecraft being a particularly profitable idea, but good luck and prove me wrong !

      Ya, still being in beta, there are not a lot of products out to advertise. Like I said, I couldn't find a single ClickBank product, most likely because there is a new update with new content almost every month. Luckily, someone dedicated, like the OP, can use this as a chance to create a product!

    You could also email Notch and bug him to make an affiliate program. I doubt that'd work, and even if you did most of the people visiting your site probably already own MC.

    I took a look at your site. The one thing I would suggest is to remove the minecraft banner that shows up above the posts. THe reason being that on my screen (large resolution) it is the only thing that is showing up above the fold.

    If this is the first thing I see, chances are I'm not going to scroll down to see the things of value so make sure you offer that to your visitors first.

    Take a look at the amount of time people are spending on your site, you may find that it isn't very high in which case it means you have a design problem (a problem with getting people to stick around long enough to see the value you are offering them)

      Text ads convert better. Banner ads 1% vs text ads 4% and someone have tested. Do a search on Google for "banner blindness" and you will uncover more information that you could ever need.

    I would say that people are becomming victims of "banner blindness", where they don't even notice the ads. You almost have to incorporate them into your content. Keep trying - I bet ads don't work as well as a link to an online affiliate product. With the latter you can lead peolpe up to wanting to buy it - THEN they click - as opposed to just hoping they'll click an ad link
