Really, the best tool is knowledge.. I'm now an expert is HTML/CSS and PHP/MySQL as well as SEO and it's been the biggest help for me thus far. This doesn't mean buying WSO packages that promise to make you money, it means actually learning the basics - so get some good books that teach you those subjects I mentioned.. then when you come here and maybe buy a WSO, you'll really be able to implement the entire concept a lot better and faster.

If you're looking for a resource list, you can download my ebook (link in sig), and most of the stuff there is free, although there are a few paid resources you can check out.

  I don't even know if it's on the market any more, and if it is, it's probably out of date.
  
  I can't attribute all my success to just one product though - I've read hundreds of ebooks over the years. I've picked up quite a few useful nuggets of info along the way, and of course much of my success comes from just taking action on what I've learnt.

I can't point to just one product or thing that got me where I've been but I can say that I agree wholeheartedly with Johnny Optimo - knowledge and then more knowledge - become an expert in one thing and then move on to the next thing. You'll find that as you learn more about SEO, product creation, back links, relationships, mentors etc. that you will move in the right direction.

I bought a few courses over the last year. Nothing too expensive - $40 courses. I learned things in each course that made me feel I got my moneys worth out of them. None of them teaches you everything you need to know. One guy showed his method of creating mailing lists, another showed how he promoted amazon products, etc, etc. I find them inspirational. Watching videos of people who are making money on the internet and showing you some of the tricks they use helps keep me in the right state of mind. Just like coming to this board reading posts from fellow marketers who are making a living on the internet does. I'm not there yet myself....but I'm keeping my eye on the ball.

There's only so much reading, courses, etc. that you can take to educate yourself on 'best' ways or 'how' to make money online. My honest advice is to simply read enough to know and understand the basics of what you need to get started and then, well, get started! You won't ever make any money in internet/online marketing until you start spending money and testing. As mentioned above, work ethic is huge here and not quitting on yourself. I've worked with publishers who have lost over $10k before they finally 'cracked the code' and started making money, only to go on to become extremely successful (in the CPA world) and some have even progressed (naturally) into being advertisers of their own products.

This question is getting some very interesting replies - but still no courses that anyone is jumping up and down about. I find that amazing - or do the gurus only come out at night - will I wake up at 3am with a landing page above my bed and a giant BUY IT NOW button blinding me?

i learned a lot from mike johnsons autoblog blueprint course about SEO/wordpress/backlinks,etc........

but most important than any 1 course is just trying different areas of IM to find what fits me(example I 1st started with an article marketing product and realized HATED article marketing and writing articles)

I am learning the basics and I think you can't earn by depending on 1 product. From time to time yo have to promote different products. And if you plan to sell 1 product then use full force to promote it. Do Facebook marketing, twitter, SEO and link buidling, blog posts etc.

The one thing that helped me more than anything was the WF. I had played around with SEO and Affiliate marketing for a few months prior to joining WF without really knowing what a large iceberg SEO was. After joining the forum I spent hours and hours piecing together forum posts from people who were earning serious amounts of cash from their online endeavours and went from there. The best thing about WF is that you can quickly and easily see if the person who is posting is taking rubbish and it is ver easy to identify the best posts. Also WF is a great resource as the tools and techniques that have come and gone over the years have been throughly tested by its members so newbies like me know what works and what doesn't. This saved me countless thousands of pounds as I learnt from the mistakes of others.

I've always learned most by watching what is working at a given point in time -- in other words, watching what the top people are doing online and why.

When I first started out in 2000 I learned by watching Corey Rudl, Yanik and Marlon come out with their own products - along with my background in developing training programs, the lightbulb went off, there was (and still is) huge opportunity for cost effectively creating and distributing infoproducts (in the past printing and recording costs were prohibilitive)

Then, I watched in the early 2000's as email marketing came into its own - list building, relationship management, copywriting became more important as competition heated up, etc...

Late 2000's it was all about SEO - learning how to get your online business in front of your market - content, SEO, blogging, video, etc...

Now, I'm learning the latest by watching infoproduct business models turn into larger training and franchised opportunities, traffic generation and online marketing becomes more social and ways of finding opportunities evolve as well.

Yes, I've bought courses, had some coaching, etc...but I've always organized that around what I saw happening rather than just jumping into a program here or there.

My advice...become a student of watching, digging and learning what is actually happening online, base your plans around that and seek out training to fill in gaps along the way.

I agree with you, but many newbies come to WF and get totally confused, buying all the courses they see and getting nowhere.

This is becoming an interesting post, I was expecting to hear people saying "anything by Brian Johnson" or "Bring the Fresh" or some of that Lazy stuff - it just isn't turning out like that at all!

Think & Learn & Do & Test & Adapt & Grow Rich was the product to which I attribute most of my success.

Seriously though, no single product got me earning money online. In fact, not buying many products at all (except for when I knew exactly what I wanted, such as Perry Marshall's Adwords ebook, etc) is probably what helped me: I didn't get sold on and suckered in by all the "magic bullet" formulas and scary voodoo malarky that tends, in my opinion, to make more broke, burned-out hobos than it does millionaires.

John (XFactor) Robinson's famous AdSense thread, right here on the WarriorForum, was one of the most helpful, inspirational things for me, actually ... and that was totally free.

There is a lot of information on the internet and book stores that help you understand how to make money online. One thing though, there are so many sites offering solutions for some payments and this is where you need to watch out. Scam! Some claim to help make even up to 300,000$ a month...

To be quite honest, no product got me started.

I learned about online marketing through the warrior forum (I don't even remember how i found this place to be honest).

I just put together the stuff that made sense to me, then I applied it to MY OWN IDEA and it started working for me.

Note that this was after several years of making ZERO by looking for a step by step, push button, magic formula.

Learn the theory, then apply that to your own idea, and make it happen.

The first real course that made me proper affiliate money by following it from start to end and just doing what they told me was AffiloBlueprint by Mark Ling. I know this is from a while back now but I think an update was released and a lot of it was solid enough that it still applies.

I didn't quite get to the $300/week point with one go through but most of the sites built using that made a constant $100-200/week within a month or two of building them.

For site flipping the one that gave me the most info is eTycoon by Ryan Moran. There is some great stuff in there and helped me get the most out of mine and some clients sites.

The other one that I would recommend is Wealthy Affiliate, there is a lot in there that helps, but I would say it isn't really a course as such, it is ever evolving and a great source of info but sometimes it feels like you have to make your own plan from it.

There have been many since then, Amazon courses, YouTube courses, Article Marketing courses, Site Flipping courses and more, but they are the ones that kick started it for me I think.

The Internet Marketing course that was published by Corey Rudl way back in 1998 was what I give most of the credit to helping motivate and educate me about the potential of Internet marketing. Unfortunately, Corey is no longer with us but the Internet Marketing Center he started still is and their course is now online versus the nearly 1,000 pages of paper (two ring binders) that I originally purchased. I believe the current version is still a good one but the dynamic personality of Corey can never be replaced.

Well, it may be a bit outdated, but Affiliate Project X.

I got it in 2007 and some of the rules may have changed that were encouraged - or should I say parts of some of the techniques in the original book may now be frowned upon as they were greatly exploited.

It may have been updated since then, I just don't know.

Anyway, I made money 4 days after I started to "take action" and did make over $500 days as said on the sales page.

It actually inspired me and lit a fire under my ass to get a site up lickity split.

That in itself was worth it as I had been making that simple task a big issue.

It didn't tell me how to get the site up, but some how knocked it into my head that I needed one fast.

I haven;t heard of that one either Jill, but so many people are saying that certain courses got them off their butts and working. It is a lot of work, but at least we can suffer at home and not in a rat cubicle.

I fondly remember the good old days when Adwords was such ripe hunting ground circa 2007 and earlier.

I recall picking up Google Cash by Chris Carpenter, and becoming absolutely fascinated with Adwords and paid advertising.

It was relatively easy back then, and I remember making well over $1,000 within a week or so, and it was so enjoyable to spend $50 every day and get $100 or more back without really needing to test and tweak too much.

Thinking back...

I did several things that made me money by following
ONE or TWO or sometimes THREE combined courses...

rarely did i get a *be-all-end-all* course.

I used to do DiDi Alcheva's Ebay Marketing System to
sell cell phones on eBay and THAT worked well for me
to the tune of a few hundred dollars profit a month.

I implemented another eBay course about classifieds &
that worked only with a slight modification that made
the difference between success and failure (the owner
conveniently left out a critical piece of information).

Everything else I'm doing like listbuilding and such was
a result of a combination of a LOT of different stuff.

From this *stuff* I created my own game plan. And, it
is the most common way i do business.

Rarely is there *one* thing that'll take me to the next
level as I discovered what takes me there isn't a single
thing outside myself, but from within.

I know there was 2 or 3 other methods I used exclusively
that worked for me but I'm too lazy to go back in time to
think about it. I think this should do...

As many already commented before me, there wasn't one course that taught me everything but the very 1st course I started on was the best I ever had... It laid out all the concepts for me and made everything very easy...
That course was consumer wealth system by Daniel Turner and Marc Lindsay...
I made good money using their course (even when I neglected my CWS sites) and what they taught on their private coaching calls and now I work with them as well.

Plus, if you ask for other recommendations I highly recommend Elite Niche Research by Andrew Hansen as THE BEST course on market research I ever laid my eyes on...

and if you're putting in something about niche marketing as a product owner, then Niche Profit Classroom by Adam Short is amazing.. though its a monthly recurring but there is a $1 trial for 2 weeks... enough for a review I think...

I'v reviewed them all myself and also implement their techniques in my own business on a regular basis...

This wasn't a course per se, but as a huge SEO fan of Aaron Wall, I decided if he was making money selling an ebook, so should I.

I copied the format of his sales letter (since copywriting wasn't even a term I'd heard about), applied it to another niche, and hey, it worked. That was a long time along.

And that slippery sloop landed me here in the WF.

See what works, and do that.

Uh.. well I suppose my answer would be in my sig. It's my own system that I've started using this year alone and I'm already nearing $300 a week. As I add more domains it's going to get interesting.
