Hey there:

I've been doing a little reading and from what I read, it kinda looks like flipping websites can make some easy money. Granted I will have to learn stuff before flipping sites, but how hard could it possibly be? I'm not great with web design but it's something I'm willing to learn.

  • NB I don't flip sites but

I read somewhere that the best place to buy them is at digitalpoint and the best place to sell them is at flippa

If sites sell on flippa for 10x monthly earnings for example, then try and buy sites for less than 10x monthly earnings from digitalpoint and then sell them on flippa

Website Flipping is the next wave of wealth creation.

If you can flip one website for a lump sum profits, you can definitely flip 100 websites or more for a gigantic sum of profits.

Probably my favorite method of making money and has been for a long time.
  • It is not so easy as you pointed in your thread. It is a lot harder when you don't have the finance to actually make your site look good. I have seen some guys use one screenshot to flip several site. I have had to go offline to make more money before I come back into the website flipping game because that is where my passion lies.

But if you can bring in good traffic to a website in a good niche, I would suggest that you sell adsense sites. They sell like HOT CAKES!
  • If you're not great with website creation, learn it first. Learn how to create wordpress blog and basic html.

I also don't flip site, but it looks like profitable. Maybe I'll try my own flipping method and come back with report in a month or two.
  • You can not just flip sites for BIG profit at the snap of a finger.

If you want to make good money (not peanuts)...you need to sell established sites with traffic and revenue. But this then opens up a whole can of worms...like how to do SEO for Google rankings etc...which can be A LOT to learn.

Otherwise you will be stuck flipping non established sites which wont sell for much.

    • This is absolutely true.

You have to sell one website for $200 profit per day, which I doubt any website flipper here can or does do, in order to make a decent income.

Otherwise you might as well go get a job.
  • Flipping is something I want to get into, but it isnt straight forward.
I have looked into it myself and found the same as the other repliers. To sell for big money, it needs to have good traffic and good revenue. Otherwise you will be struggling to make a living out of it.

I have several sites, all of which I started from scratch so I am looking at these as mid-long term investments.

One bit of advice though, video content seems to sell very well.

    • I know that for a beginner like me, I wouldn't be making a lot of money to start off with. I am willing to learn all that it takes even if it takes a bit of time to do so.

  • Easy money? It's not easy, you can make money flipping websites but these days it takes a big up front investment and, like any other way of making money, it's not really that easy. Takes work, like anything else.

To make big money, you have to get the site earning consistently (something which most people cannot do). If you can do that then you can make decent money, but selling brand new sites that aren't making anything is an uphill battle these days.

    • Startup sites that you haven't added any assets or value too will not do well, especially on sites like Flippa. Heck, even selling start-up sites with 100% unique content haven't done well for quite a while now too.

Depending on what you consider "big money", websites do not have to making money in order to sell for decent money.

There are many things to take into consideration when evaluating any online business including the domain name, how long the site has been running, Page Rank, Alexa Ranking, content, unique content, existing social accounts, backlinks, directory submissions, keywords, search engine rankings. These are all assets for the online business/website which will increase the value and ultimately its purchase price.

And yes, it is LOTS of work...but the work you put in on the front end is really worth the results you can achieve.

  • Sign up at Flippa and you will be given a free ebook on how to buy and sell website. This ebook is a great resource and beginners guide and probably the place many people got their website flipping idea from and selling it on WSO for money.

If you are not sent the link to buy the book after joining flippa, sign in and navigate around. If you still can't find this then PM your email to and i will send the attachment to you.

In case you don't hear from me then be aware that today is my last day here for the next weeks as i am going on vacation.

  • Flipping sites has become such as profitable method! Even creating simple blogs and flipping them have small but reasonable profits! And therefor if you sell many per week will benefit!
  • Make money online, eg via flipping site is doable but definitely not as easy as it sounds. You might want to adjust your expectation.
  • Flipping should continue to work to some degree as long as there are willfully-ignorant people who believe there's easy money to be made on the Internet.

If you believe this, ask yourself: Who's looking to make money off ME?

And flipping a website is different than flipping a domain without a website, as you just did is different ... how?

I've been building websites for people ... happy customers ... for over 12 years and they do not consider themselves willfully ignorant ... nor do I.

Did you build your own house? Your own car? There are many reasons to buy a pre-built website rather than attempt to create one yourself if you know nothing about building a website.
      • [ 3 ] Thanks
    • I would never assume others are being ignorant and there are in fact easy ways to make money on the internet, you just have to find what works for you.

If you can write, go write articles and offer your services at Fiverr...or better yet, go find someone who can do the articles for $3 and you market them for $5...sounds like pennies? Well go make 100 sales and you just made $200...on the internet...and you just learned it on the WarriorForum.
  • Website flipping can make you money but like everything it is not guaranteed - read, learn and implement and once you have sold a few sites it gets a lot easier.

The main thing is making sure you have profits to show - you don't HAVE to do this but the sites I have always sold have done better when they are making a profit.

  • Flipping sites is super profitable when you find the right buyers. Its possible to flip sites making absolutely no money for thousands of dollars - again you just need the right buyer.
  • I considered flipping at one point, but when you think about the amount of principal it takes to generate a stream of income, it helps put things in a different light.

Even a crappy little site that I have that I haven't added to in 5 years brings in $110/month. That would take $25K @ 5% per year to earn that.

Not saying that's the best choice for everyone, but my main business provides enough cash for investments. So if I sold a website, the cash would likely just sit in the bank.
  • Don't believe everything you read. Most ebooks will tell you that it's 'easy' to make money using whatever business model they're talking about.

If you can build (or fix up) a website and get it making money, then yes, it's easy. You need to know alot more than website design though - you need to know how to optimize the website, promote it, get rankings and conversions etc. None of those are particularly easy if you're a complete beginner.

    • Very true, spend some time getting to know what your customers want, and look at the popular keywords to determine if this method works for you. Once you have a passion for the work, then it helps. You would be surprised how many people want the sites but want it highly customized. Good, more money for you.

Detail out exactly what you will offer and if they want extra, charge it. Dont be afraid to charge for things such as maintenance, search engine optimization, article writing ( or add to the package as a bundle).

Also do a test run on how long it takes to create the work. Dont give an unrealistic time span, then realize you are swamped and the customer is not happy.
  • I'm curious - for those of you who flip sites; do you look for buyers AFTER you've bought and update/created the site, or do you find a buyer and then buy and update/create a site specifically for them?

Yep. Take a look at this gem
      https://flippa.com/90266-premier-men...on-t-miss-this
No revenue, sold for $17,495. Bought by a media company. Had plenty of assets, just no revenue

I prefer to build the sites and then find the buyer. The other way around is too much like working for someone.

  • Even as a newbie, the only major money i make from
Internet Marketing is from website flipping. Its not easy though
the way 'gurus' present it but if you follow a due course it's going
    to be easy.

I'm trying to complete my WSO for newbies on how to make $1000
in 2 months in website flipping (it could be more than that but i dont
    wanna rasie the flag high).

i've dropped a domain name for $345 before which i only bought for less
than $10 with an article of less than $3 on it...

Website flipping is part of the best ways to make money online and NO you
do not need to know how to build a gigantic site before you make money from
website flipping... do not wait on earnings alone! Sites with subscribers, twitter
followers and facebook fans also sells for good money.

What started out to be a hobby, turned out to a full blown business... who would have known?

    • I second that.. theres nothing different from building a site for yourself or flipping it .. make a site with TLC .. throw in some time and you will get big bucks

  • In my opinion, you need these four skills to build a scalable flipping business:

1.) Ability to See Potential in Sites
    2.) Ability to Analyze Numbers
3.) Ability to Manage a Team
    4.) Ability to Develop Relationships

Notice how I didn't mention anything about technical abilities? That can help you, but it's not required.

Doesn't seem as hard when you look at it from a simplified view.

  • Site flipping, as any other internet marketing activity really, can be profitable. The trick is to learn the trade in and out in order to make sense of everything that you'll encounter during each step. Good luck!
