  • What would happen if you opened a store on the busiest street in your City?

    Answer: Nothing

Why? Because you don't have a plan. You have done what people who are new "think" they should do.

Throw up some kind of page then try to find people for their page.

    Result: FAILURE

    You MUST have a plan.

Marketing is about finding Markets... doing your research, who are the customers, what do they want, what can I do that makes my offer better than the competition. BEFORE you create your offer you MUST know there is a market, and when you figure out who that market is you'll already know where they ARE and what they WANT and how YOU can get yourself in front of them.

When you have done that then you will already know what you need to earn an income.

So back up, and figure out the "marketing" part of the plan you need to create.

    • This advice is really an eye opener for me. Although i've done my market research and I identified where this market are found. But still i struggle to get more traffic. Do you think small business owners are too broad as a market? Im actually building a list by offering a social media guide for them.

      ???

You would get a lot of customers, that's what would happen.
  • anybody can suggest where and how can i get more traffic from small business owners who can use social media in their business?

    • You are offering a social media guide. One would want to assume that you have knowledge of social media. Use your social media skills to drive traffic.

My singer daughter has used the free power of social media to drive hundreds of thousands of song plays, get gigs, get featured etc.

It is out there, it is powerful, you have an ebook on it - why aren't you using your social media skills?
  • easy videos, articles, blogs, and forum and maybe even PPC

articles would be best because people would post your article on there websites and it would pop up all over the place

other than that start making some videos and explain why they should visit your site

    • Don't just rely on social media. You should also do some SEO on your site. That's the best and ideal way to maintain a good traffic.

With that..you will no longer need to post on forums and blogs just to gain traffic.
  • very good info above.. it takes lots of time and research.. if you dont have patience then dont bother

  • Posting on forums and blogs will bring you traffic but the
traffic will be very slow. It will take some time to build that
momentum. So you will have patience.

Thats why i like paid traffic because it comes fast and its
alot easier to scale. Most people don't have the money to
put into buying traffic every week.

Below are some free methods to getting traffic

    article marketing
    video marketing
    social media facebook/twitter
    blogging the right way

    Paid methods of getting traffic

    banner ads
    text ads
    solo ads
    facebook ppc
    youtube ppc

A good traffic course you can check out is
    from George Brown Traffic Ultimatium.
Its a very good course that contains videos, pdf
    and audios

    • To answer your original question, the only thing apart from paid methods (which would be getting a steady stream of traffic for a steady stream of money - not a bad thing) is SEO.

Pick out some keywords, look at the competition (using SEO Quake etc), pick the ones you're going to rank for and build links... in essence it's that simple!

      Cheers
  • Hi Jimmy,

For free traffic, one of the method is forum and you have been using it. That's good. You may even try out youtube and adswaps.

If you have some money to invest and want to build a list fast, I'll share two awesome ways to build your list fast with paid traffic which is solo ads and facebook marketing.

For consistent traffic, I would suggest a mixture of free and paid traffic. I would suggest to use free traffic first if you do not have a budget for paid traffic. However, based on my testing, paid traffic works better than free traffic. You may or may not agree. To me, statistics says all.

Remember, your list won't be built overnight. You have to stop wanting to get rich overnight. Creating a real business takes time. But imagine what you would have in one year from now if you were to start RIGHT NOW!

    Hope it helps...

    Raymond

  • The new trend in the IM Industries are

    1. Guest Blogging

    2. Solo Ads and AdsWap

3.Banner ads for cheap rate like BSA(BuySellAds.com)
  • 1# Article marketing
    2# Press Release
    3# Build backlinks

Make a plan, and stick to your plan..stay focus, learn from failure.
  • In my opinion, every traffic source has its own expiration "date" ,, in some condition it'll die. The traffic sources are:
    -free
    -paid

For example if you want to have steady traffic in paid traffic source then you have to keep on spending money. If you want to have steady traffic in free sources, then you have to steadily whether to spend your time to backlinking or spend your time to social network (if you're using facebook or twitter to online marketing)...

    Does it help?
  • Pick one or two traffic sources and just master them.
Thats the biggest hurdle for most people from living
    home business lifestyle is TRAFFIC!!!

Once you master that everything else is EASY.
  • If you want something hands off in the long run, SEO would be a good idea.

  • I use Tweet Attacks for traffic. Its a little expensive though, so if you cant afford it then you should submit your site to search engines, submit to StumbleUpon, post answers on Yahoo answers, submit your site to DMOZ, do some social bookmarking, share it on Twitter/Facebook the old fashioned way (by hand), maybe try out some paid advertising with Adwords or 7search.
  • nightengle nailed it. Trust me, at the end of day, traffic is lot of hardwork, if you dont have money. If you can spend some money, go and buy some media.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Write as many articles as possible and offer them to all the possible major article directories. Remember if it happens to be Ezine articles you will have to wait for your article to get accepted before you can suggest them elsewhere. Your articles if comparatively are well written they will for sure get picked up by different webmasters for reprinting on their respective websites.
  • hello jim?

Being by having a good website. Focus on good and unique content. Build links with other sites.

    (?)
  • Write some articles at eza and the other article sites.

    Submit some videos to youtube.

    Write articles for blog owners.

Traffic is the easy part. You just need to put in the work to get it.
  • Honestly if you want to create traffic to your sites without having to work. I would concretrate on my plan then create an automated system that is simple and easy to execute them give it to a VA so your traffic will be constant. Even if you can't afford a VA ($2hr, if you can't how are you still alive! Right) A system is simply a step by step guide on how to get a certain thing. Whoever you plug in should be able to run it. The your job is to improve the system and implement new idea. The best way to get good at writing systems is to experience the "grunt work" then write down everything you do then organize it. You can use everything videos, mind maps, etc the possibilities are endless.
  • If you do not have a budget, use the various free tools to drive traffic

It takes time but you need to get your numbers right first and understand the conversion rate of your landing page (if you are making sales)

If you are doing commissions, you need to know how much money you will make every 100 hits

AFTER knowing this number then you can pump money for paid traffic
  • I've had some success with solo ads. Choose carefully. I've paid for duds.

Since you're giving away a how-to product and you want people to believe you know what you're talking about, keep writing blog posts on the topic. You have a few posts, but write dozens or hundreds of top-notch posts. Target keywords for every post.

In time your traffic will increase and if you write great stuff, people will want your free guide. Subscribers who like your blog posts so much they get your guide will be great subscribers.

Build authority in your niche (social media for business). There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of blogs on which you could guest post.

One nice deal that worked for me lately is after referring plenty of customers to a merchant I work with, I asked if they would mention my free guide in their e-newsletter. They agreed immediately and it resulted in a nice flood of traffic. The best part is their endorsement resulted in a high sign up conversion rate.

It takes time to build trust and authority. Study your niche, become expert, get some testimonials, be a prolific writer/content generator and in time you'll build a list and traffic to your blog.
  • the concept is still basic...
have plenty of useful high quality relevant content spread out over numerous pages.
  • go for best SEO jim......
  • aside from blog and forum posting, there's SEO, Google ADs, FB ADs, Social Media, article writing, and posting on many of the free directories Craigslist, Angies List, Kijiji, etc...
