Hi there

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas.

I am going to be creating some video content for my website. Regular (weekly or bi-weekly) content.

I want to limit access to it to only people who have signed up to get the content. And ideally lock it down so it can't be seen by anybody without a login.

But it's not a paid area.

Essentially I want people to be able to access it for free, but only if they sign up to be on my list.

I was thinking I could just create a membership area in Wordpress - a locked down category, or a separate installation, and people would have to register to join.

But how do I then capture their email address into Aweber automatically?

Or can I do it the other way around, capture their details into an Aweber form, and then use that information to automatically give them a username and password into a protected area?

Or am I going to have to look at a paid solution?

Any ideas?

Cheers
Brett

Check out a membership plugin call Wishlist. I have used it to build many membership sites for my clients and it's also one of the cheapest. It also has every feature you are looking for.

    Hope that helps

      I second that.

Wishlist can do what you want, and it will also be able to do pretty anything you want in the future as your requirements change.

I haven't come across anything that I haven't been able to do with it (yet).

Here's a free solution, but it requires 3 plugins:

    Aweber Registration Integeration

    registered-users-only-2

    Register Plus Redux

Make sure anyone can register in the Settings>General tab (click the Membership box)

If you want to go down the absolute 100% free route, it's simple.

You just set up your opt in form to redirect to the landing page of your video content. "No index" your content pages, hide it from site navigation, so that the only way that someone can find them is by signing up for your list.

Thanks for the free options. If I was to buy something I'd probably get the developer versions but $300 is a bit out of my range at the moment.

I had considered the redirect/noindex option, but the nature of the niche is that people will actually know each other in person, and could easily share the URLs. So they are not a disparate bunch of people who don't really know others in the niche.

But perhaps I'm just being a bit paranoid.

    Thanks everyone for your help

I've been looking into this tonight, and I have a question...

What exactly does Register Plus Redux do? Currently the plugin is not available apparently due to a security issue, and it's been removed from Wordpress.org

So I've been unable to try it out.

Can anyone enlighten me on exactly what it does, and why I would want it.

      Thanks
      Brett
