Are dot TV extensions worth it?

Hi all,

Is there any real good reason to pay the extra money for a .tv URL?

    George,

If I had a TV spot, infomercial, etc, then I'd grab the .TV. That would bring some congruency to the product or service I was offering on TV. At this time, I see no reason otherwise. Although I look forward to hearing what others think.

I second that thought. If you think tht having a <DOT> tv domain can help rake in more business, then why not try it!

This is a really good question!

I was reading someone else postings over at another forum, where the idea going around was that the higher the domain cost, the less likely the search engines would drop you in the sand box as the higher priced domains are very unlikely to be used by spammers and the MFA (Made for Adsense) brigade..

    Whats your thoughts?

if you are serious about your brand and its only a few more bux to register per year, why not? you might want to look into the ICAAN releasing more domains soon - gTLDs.

Someone who sees your .tv domain may also wonder if they missed your infomercial on TV and click out of curiosity ...

I purchased one but don't plan to use it for a couple of years. Television is going digital next month for a reason. Have you thought about it.

I have a feeling that a lot of what we watch on TV today is going to gradually move to the computer, and eventually onto an Ipod or something similar.

We now take our phone with us everywhere we go, which we couldn't do a few years ago. I doubt that it will be long before we are able to do the same with our TV.

Of course, this is just my random thinking at work again.
