A hot tip for newbies !!

We all love things ok, things have been our life since birth,
We have progressed through life learning how to get things,
food, clothes, friends, cars, money, jobs, relationships, etc etc etc

In fact our whole survival process revolves around getting things,
we live by it, we survive by it, we strive for it.

What you need to be aware off is that you are trying to sell to human
beings, people just like you, people who live by the same laws, to get things, all sorts of things just like we mentioned above.

So what you need to be doing is thinking in reverse, i hear so many people on here saying how can i earn this much, how can i make lots of money, how can i pack in my job and earn enough money working from home !! etc etc

I dont hear many people saying how can i give, how can i give so much value because this is of greater priority to how much i can earn !!

Well this is how you should be thinking, only when you start putting value ahead of your need will you then start to gain respect. The people you are trying to sell to, those very people who want to get as much as they can will stand up and look at you because you have given them way more than they could have ever imagined, you have got their attention and their respect, and they will not forget that.

You will be creating an instant relationship. Remember we all want to buy stuff, we just dont like being sold too !! So build that respect by thinking in reverse, only then will you reap the financial rewards.

All the best,
Steven.

  • Very valuable post...So many marketers try to SELL SELL SELL! And it is more about building a relationship with your customers to provide them with value and trust. Nothing is worse than having a marketer shove offers down your throat. Building credibility is one of the most important things when it comes to IM.

    • I agree, add value and offer information people are looking for, then make sure you can be found with keywords that you can actually rank for. It can be as simple as organizing information in a format that makes it easy to understand, but offer something and the sales do come!
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I agree. If you can harness your OP, you will be successful.

Sadly, most people only focus on the next sale and wonder why their business sucks.

Your income will be related to the value you offer. It's not just the sales... you'll be amazed at the opportunities that open up to you over time.

Great book: The Go Giver. Highly recommend.
  • This is a principle that applies to marketing and equally to life in general. Be other-people centred. Natural tendency is to look out for yourself. But a fundamental shift in thinking that will change everything is to look out for others. In marketing this translates to giving value to others before even thinking about making a cent for yourself. The money that comes is simply a by-product of the value you provide.

    • Very good advice. "Serve people, treat them right." in the context of marketing has been the mantra of one of my mentors for a long time, and each day I find new applications for it. It's not only an enabler of success in drawing customers to you, it makes you feel really good, enabling you to make your business your passion, and thus drive your business forward to help more people.

Some more tangible benefits of this advice include customer loyalty, repeat business, word-of-mouth recommendations, new friends, new connections. I'm very glad to see this advice given. Thank you.

  • This is a good advice. I'm gonna try to apply it next time I talk to my subscribers. The Value of your offer really is the most important thing. We really need to look at it like if it's a value that we ourselves believe in.
  • This is a fantastic post, as the quote goes 'Give enough people what they want and you'll get what you want.' .
  • I agree with you! This is a helpful and valuable tip that any newbies should learn before doing into something.
  • Hi,

I agree with you. Give before you take is the only thing to succeed in IM.
  • I completely agree with you. This way of thinking also applies universally on whatever you are doing.

Today lots of people just work without having a clear goal. They say things like "I will work hard so I can be rich"
A better way to say it is "I want to be rich in year X. What should I do to get it?"

Set your goal first and then work towards it.
  • Very well said. A lot of people are only focused on how to gain money. All they think about is income and money. I think today people only think of money and not the quality or feedback of their customers. I think it's gonna be a win-win situation if we focus on generating income as well as building relationship to our customers.

Why is this tip for newbies only? This should be for everyone.

Focusing on getting money rather than providing value is a very common problem of people who are starting out. But there are many many intermediate or even advanced IMers who target only the money and give only a little value in return.

A very great advice though. thanks!
  • I completely agree, your success is directly proportionate to what you give.

The more you give the more you get, and when you give, what you get returned to you will come in bucketloads.

This doesn't just go for money though, if you give love, you get love, if you give thanks, you get thanks, if you give honesty, you get honesty.... If you give lies, you get lies.

So in giving massive value to your customers, you're building a relationship not just a one-time sale and run.

    Great advice Steven
  • valuable contents plus the right keywords and some SEO implementation will do the tricks. It maybe hard to start at first but let's take the first step and wait for results.
  • You are perfectly correct Clio, this tip is important for everyone,
My title had an intention to get to the newbies on here simply because
out of the different groups of people at different stages i thought it
important to get to the group which most likely where not aware of this
concept, you are however perfectly correct, everyone will benefit from
taking this approach, thankyou for your comment.

    All the best,
    Steven.

    • This is great advice for newbies and veterans alike whether it is in the IM world or in other kinds of businesses. When I am in the mindset of "selling" I find that it is harder to sell someone on something than when I am in the mindset of "how can I help this person." I usually make more sales when I try to help someone than when I try to sell them.

Good post. Thanks for mentioning this.
  • What a great post! Giving starts the receiving process. The more you give the more you will get! So whatever you know or whatever you want give it away and watch how it comes back to you 10 fold!
  • What You're saying is nothing more than a biblical principle, that's been taught in the bible for years,(Give and it shall be given unto you!).
The bible also have a principle for people financial problems.
  • This is great advice. I think it is too easy for people to start in internet marketing thinking that they can just make a ton of money online hiding behind their computer without actually building relationships with anyone. This mindset is perpetuated by all the 'courses' out there that say you can just promote a hoplink and the money will start pouring in. Being willing to give value without wanting anything in return should be the mindset every newbie starts out with. Great thread!
  • Exactly iamhelping, its simple really, follow this process and you will be on the right road to success in all walks of life.
