Building a list and selling a product with the bare minimum?

Is it possible to build a list and to sell a product (either in a launch or immediately) with just a squeeze page? When the product's ready, have a sales purchase page?

That's it. Two pages? Is that enough?

    Yes.

In fact, if you are selling the product as an affiliate, then
you can do it with just ONE page of your own: the squeeze
    page.

The number one goal is to get people on your list in the
first place so that you can follow-up with them at virtually
    no cost and at will.

Take it a step-at-a-time and build the squeeze page.

I should have mentioned I will be selling my own product. Does that change things?

I have found generally in order to sell my own product I have to have built up trust with my list or visitor, and when people see a ClickBank offer, they think it is safer. This is just my opinion, but I had a fellow here show me some ropes so I just followed his blueprint. Now if your list is well familiar with you go for it, just depends on how you feel about the rapport.

If you are really really good or have a mentor who has done that in the same niche yes.
It could even be 1 page only.
    1. You capture emails on a squeese page
    2. Send the gifts over the email
    3. Presell on the product through emails
    4. Send them straight to paypal from emails.
But you have to be really really good at copywriting and email marketing

Shaun is absolutely right. Very hard to sell a cold click. Collect those opt ins and take care of your list. I use ClickBank for my list but also sell my own product as well, and conversions of a list are well, there is no comparison.

Hi Harvey, in an extremely simplistic way, then yes I guess that could work. However I expect that it almost certainly wouldn't.

First off you need the other pages related to the optin such as the thanks page. Ok these can be provided by the autoresponder so you could count them out of your total page count I guess.

Now you have people on your list using the single squeeze which is fine but the big thing now is what do you do with them now they are on your list. I notice you said when the product is ready so I am assuming you are working your list up until that point. If you just wait until you are ready and then mail the list, it could easily have gone cold on you and be very unresponsive so a bit of work will be needed on your part here.

Of course, if you can get the sell out quickly then you might get away with a redirect to a single page sale especial if you are using click bank or maybe directing to a WF WSO where their infrastructure takes over. So again, more work on the periphery but essentially could be done with a single page.

Now as an aside you would need to cover your ass over the legal stuff so you would need disclaimers and that stuff just so you don't get into trouble with ftc or paypal so that will include other pages for sure although you can snag them from somewhere.

Ok, in summary yes you could do it but it is not advisable on many levels plus your conversions will probably be way down and missing an opportunity to build relationships with your new subscribers.

Yes, I will be grinding my list hard. The squeeze will pretty much tell them that all the content they're looking for (bar the product) will be made available to them through regular emails. I'm all about the list.

As for legalities, I have no idea where to begin. Should I even use PayPal as my processor? I don't want them limiting me (again) if someone decides they want their 30 day money back guarantee refund and end up chargeback'ing me.

Does what I'm doing constitute for a business PayPal account?

What can I do to get the legal information I need?

PP is a painpain, but it depends on what kind of volume you are looking for too.

Sorry Harvey, fell asleep. Agreed, go with Clickbank. Just less hassle.

  • Harvey,

    1) Wait until you got the product ready, and THEN start the Squeeze Page -> Sales Page thing. Lists tend to go unresponsive over time, so don't let the list go cold before you've got your product ready.

    2) Forget paypal. If you're selling a digital product, go for Clickbank.

So I can use Clickbank and list my product as a product there and basically affiliate myself? The cash piles up in the Clickbank account and I can then send it to my bank account without going through the hassle of PayPal?

Also, if I'm not working on the squeeze page now and don't want to work on the product just yet, what else should I be working on/thinking about?

Dude, you're asking questions that you need to research upon yourself. We cannot answer those questions for you. I would recommend you to stop wasting your time in the forum, and instead get that project of yours finished.

            1) Stop worrying about the fine print: Imperfect action trumps perfect analysis.

            2) Finish your product

            3) Set it up in Clickbank

            4) Create your squeeze page and write your autoresponder sequence.

            5) Send traffic to your squeeze page

            6) Contact Clickbank affiliates and try to get them onboard to promote your product

            7) Stop hanging out in forums and get to work.

Everything is test and run test and run. I have made many different landing pages and found even two word changes, two, increased my conversions 50 percent. Mastering sales is like mastering psychology, and the trick for an internet marketer is to succeed technically and creatively, two traits not everyone has. Work on your project and be confident.

I think we are forgetting a product download page.

    Squeeze page

    Sales page

    'Thank you' page

I'm sure there is more that you could add. But they are good for now. (OTO being optional).

    Good luck with the site.

Thank you page, of course. Quite easy to do. Product download page is the sales page which is accessed when linked in the email.

      Thanks for your help.
