ebook pricing query...(newbie help)

Hi all,

just started dipping my toe into the waters, and have made my first bash at setting up a site selling a edited/revised PLR ebook (30 pages).(been reading/ learning the last 2 weeks, complete novice)
To be honest, this was as much to learn the ropes as anything else and its worked well.
I'm currently registering with Clickbank but have no idea what the going rate for an ebook is, especially as when you look on the kindle store they seem to be going for $10-15

any thoughts/ advice? my untrained mind tells me the price should be low and to focus more on building a list from it...is this the best approach?

Your product price should be proportionate to the value of your product.

I couldn't answer your question without reviewing the book.

But - as it is simply a re-vamped PLR product, I'm guessing that it is nothing overly special and therefor I recommend $9.99 or perhaps even $4.99.

I also recommend using .99 prices instead of $17 or $7 or whatever - simply because my logic tells me people will be more acustomed to these prices and comfortable with them because it's all you ever see on the high street.

Furthermore, if building a list is your intention (and it should be) why not give the book away for free? Believe me you will not be losing anything from doing so - the real money comes from a list that respects and trusts you.

I hope my answer was helpful,

As student X has said, without reviewing the ebook it's impossible to say with any certainty what your price point should be.

If the quality isn't great (the fact it is based on PLR suggests this, no offence) then it would be a good idea to have the price point low or to give it away in exchange for their name and email.

Yes, your strategy should be to use this product as a list-builder. The fact is that you can never get rich selling $7 products. So turn it into a 100% commission product, list it on jvzoo or digiresults and get affiliates to provide buyer leads for you.

By the way, keep it low-priced. $9.95 is my good point, good for you, good for your affiliates.

    thanks all, helpful advice.
I do think there are some good PLR ebooks/ articles out there, I have looked at a fair bit and wouldn't touch a lot of it. Happy with what I went with... (as this is all a learning curve, I don't want to mention the title yet... Let me make my mistakes in private!)
I agree with what you all say, keep it cheapish, so I've gone with Dann's suggestion for $9.95....I have a follow up ebook I'm working on which I may give away free next, but thats a little way off.
    All good experience!

Dann gave you some good tips on pricing and where to get affiliates. Once you get the buyers on your list, work on naturing the relationship with them by sending them quality information and don't bombbard them with sales pitches.

You may also want to put your book on Fiver. I agree with all posts in that the list is your money shot. 100% on CB is also very smart.
