Something that took me from 40k to 100k/mo back in 2006

Back in 2006 and 07... I was consistently banking 40k or higher each month. The way I was making 40k or so per month back then was:

-- selling affiliate offers (like click bank and other affiliate offers)
-- marketing my own niche ebooks for like $5 or $10 per sale
-- copywriting for gurus (damn gurus, lol)
-- membership sites

The way I was getting traffic was the following:

-- for affiliate offers, I drove traffic via Adwords and PPC and CPV to my own squeeze pages (building niche lists) and then passing them on to the affiliate sales letter (earning commissions). Then, I'd continue marketing to them via my lists (more affiliate offers). I'd give them free tips and mix in sales pitches along the way via my lists.

-- for my niche ebooks, I mostly sent traffic via the same ways as above... and would sell like 20 to 50 ebooks a day (for $5 to $10 a pop)

-- copywriting came from marketing myself (doing interviews, striking deals and reaching out to those I wanted to build relationships with -- gurus in the IM market)

-- membership sites mostly got traffic from affiliates who promoted them and some paid traffic as well and a little integration.

Final result, around 40k+ per month

I wanted to hit a million per year back then. I wanted to reach 80k to 100k per month within a year. I set a goal to get there in a years time. Two things got me there WAY earlier than the year's goal.

I learned from Matt Gill about building up a backend... a sales funnel and how to do that right. I did it. I added up-sells to my niche ebooks... I got INSTANT BIG RESULTS! It like quadrupled my income virtually over night for my niche ebook sales.

Plus, it did something else HUGE too. Before, lets say I paid $200 per day in paid traffic. Well, now, since I had that sales funnel and back end sales in the funnel, I earned more instantly and could spend more on traffic. So, I was easily more confident to spend much more than $200 per day.

AND, I was able to bid more on each click! so, if I was spending .20 cents per click and ranking 6th or 8th on PPC, I was now able to bid higher and place 1st or 2nd or 3rd on the placements (BTW, I often went for placing 3rd because I converted more at 3rd than 1st. I think that's because people click a couple ads first before making a buying decision and being 3rd got me more sales)

So, I was able to spend more per day and spend more per click because even if I broke even on the front end, I made more profits on the back end and my niche lists exploded!

This alone got me from around 40k to around 100k per month! BAM

next thing I did was plan of attack for getting more affiliates for my membership sites. I reached out to a big guru in the market, you all know who he is, ok he's Mike Filsaime and I asked him to partner with me if he would help me get more affiliates to promote my membership site.

I did not really know the game of recruiting affiliates back then... although I did know plenty of gurus through my copywriting strategy. I was just not confident to "ask" them to promote for me back then.

He agreed. (Thank God!)

So, back then in 2007, that partnership alone got me to that 100k level ALONE. In other words, just the business I did with him was easily 100k+ per month.

Therefore, two things stand out looking back to 2006 and 2007... adding in back-ends and sales funnels... and increasing traffic from both paid traffic and affiliates. Also, looking back I realize that I had what it takes to recruit affiliates, I was just timid to do so.

So, dont be timid to recruit affiliates. And, add in up-sells and back end offers. Don't be afraid to pay for traffic, if you can convert (conversions are the name of the game).

Lastly, I know... I know... I already know... you do not even have to say it... (But, but, but Eric... I hate when gurus sell me up-sells. I just hate it. I also hate videos without controls and I hate recruiting affiliates and I hate paid traffic and I hate everything)
