I was thinking the same thing actually. Besides blogging and all of the other "traditional" online marketing methods, contests have been one of the best ways for decades of getting customer interest new products and services, especially when they can be customized.

A lot of people in the wedding industry use this method too; if you've ever heard of the Best Toilet Paper Wedding Dress contest, that was a huge hit in that industry.

Here's a tip - partner up with a popular wedding website and give away a free Bride and Maid of Honor set of Ts to the winner of some type of contest; I don't know, funniest wedding dance, best essay on how you met or how he proposed.. just tossing out ideas.

Another way to get noticed is to partner up with an existing popular business and offer your Ts as prizes for someone else's contest; it's like sponsoring a contest and you'll get a link back to your site as well as a blurb on the contest site as well.

Tshirts are really pretty popular in the hot, hot wedding industry though. The couples can get Ts for their wedding party to wear at the reception; get them ahead of time to wear to a bachelor or bachelorette party. I've seen quite a few groups of women coming into the hair and nail salons wearing cool looking "bridal" Ts, even for Mother of the Bride/Groom all the way down to the Flower Girl.

      Good luck!!

Direct mail is king. Always has been...always will be. Don't let all the online guys tell you different.

        Don't believe me?

How does Google sell adwords? Direct mail.

How do the social media conferences advertise? Direct mail.

How do many of the affiliate summits advertise? Direct mail.

I "assume" you already know who your client base is. And NO...it's not everybody.

Buy a mailing list of your target audience. Put together a good free offer. Then mail out a lead generation piece to you audience. Those that raise their hand and ask for your freebie...they are called "leads". Then you market to your leads until they buy or die.

You will do the same thing online. (Where do you think online marketers go the idea of squeeze pages and autoresponders?) Put up a blog, have your opt-in form at the top of your page with your header. Get your site on the 1st page of Google for your keywords. Then write 2-4 posts a week.

Then you can go social media as well.

You can also run lead generation ads in trade magazines.

Print off some t-shirts and give them away to your target audience. Soccer teams, baseball teams, cub scouts, churches. You name.

No matter how you slice it chief, you're going to pay for customers. How much you are willing to spend depends on you and the lifetime value of your customers.

        Hope this helps.

    1) May be a long shot, but Joe Rogan seems to do GREAT with his t-shirt line "Higher Primate". His traffic comes from his message board and his podcasts listeners. Joe has captured his target market perfectly (stoners, psychedelic takers, eager learners) and made some pretty insane designs.

    2) Offline is still king. You could become a vagabond, selling t-shirts out of your car to where your target market hangs out.

It would be good if you explained a bit further, what designs are on your t-shirts etc.

Thinking outside the box gets your places.

    Hi Jamie

Depending on your budget see what if it would take for you to offer printing for free? I have never seen that offer, and I would take it if I had it.

Maybe you could work out a deal with an advertisement company where another company "sponsors" the shirt by putting their logo on the back against the one printing getting their logo on the front?

What about making t-shirt design contest on facebook? Let friends vote and the winner will get his t-shirt printed and the design will be featured as winner on the website and will be printed for special price for awhile - it will spread the word if it will be great design.
