Very cool, though personally I don't think I'd have many opportunities to use it. It will be great for people with on the go businesses like the one mentioned in the advert.

The sig doesn't mean much. You can sign Micky Mouse and the credit card company could care less. Once it is swiped, at least a small transfer is made instantly and in a few minutes the offer gets captured and paid in full.

You know to be honest, Im not sure Id be comfortable handing just "anyone" my credit card to be swiped on their phone.

This seems like great technology, but is it safe?

For those in the offline space, when going door to door, it's less hassle for a business owner to just hand you a CC than to write out a check.

It's convenient however, with the exploits increasing for mobile device security, I would never use something like this, especially swiping credit cards. It's unbelievably easy to exploit bluetooth & wireless networks.

I had read this in this forum only, then get a link of the PayPal News, actually they have started this now in some countries as of now. Presently available for I-Phones. Will be soon available on Androids too.

This is alternatively already available in market in I-Phones & Android. Many Companies are providing these services already.

John - Your fear is genuine, then they use SSL Services and also other Safety measures but yes still the downs are there. But that also here too.

But remember when Internet started peoples were afraid to do transaction online with Credit cards, but now a days that's common, so this will be too. Let it evolve, may be this would be IMr's next most sorted way to accept payment as the Mobiles Surfers are now on the rising trend.

This is nothing new but using an iPad with a non-paypal credit card terminal using an Authorize.Net gateway account would be MUCH better. Which I have done successfully.

That is definitely cool! I wouldn't have a whole lot of use for it in my business, but it's certainly a great way to do business without having to pay a separate credit card merchant or buy extra processing equipment.

The company I promote has had one for over a year now.

Like a previous poster mentioned, I wouldn't get one for PayPal if you have the option of getting one from a different provider. If PayPal freezes your account you are double screwed.

You don't even need a merchant account for the one in my signature. It will deposit directly into your checking or savings account.

I signed up a few weeks ago for the launch of something similar - I think there is already a similar service you can use in the US, is it Square or Toast or something similar?

Anyhow - it would be great for using with my clients. Many still pay me by cheque, but I'm sure would be happy to use something like that. I don't think them running off would be an issue, as mostly we're standing in their kitchen or office when it comes to payment time!

Ya the signature seems a bit weird.

Now depending on your business, I'm not sure how the customer would feel about having thier card swiped on a phone, in this day and age with storys about identity theft everywhere it might make your buyer feel awkward.

I saw it this morning, looks pretty cool though, good way to get debts paid. "Oh Hai there you are, wanna gimme that $50 you owe me? Just slide your card here." done, lol

Yeah, I'm setting up new dance venues, I could use something like this instead of paying extra for terminals.

There two things that bother me though:

1. Customers not trusting, therefore not swiping.
2. Customers accusing you of stealing their money later on.

Cute gadget, the thing is it lacks credibility.

I have one and it works great.

It's free and simple to sign up, the app is free, and they send you the card swiper for free to.

Also the rates are slightly lower than paypal's 2.9% rate.

Haha, I agree. Squareup.cm is the same thing but in a small white box format. Although they may had that edge of being first, they also hold your funds and offer poor customer service. Lets hope that paypal learns from squareup and diverts to the customers access of funds.

  Well, it's not EXACTLY the same as Square, as far as I can tell anyway (I may be wrong).
