Book excerpts as content.

I have added this to some of my blogs and websites lately to mix up the content and of course, authors. I wanted to know if anyone else has done this, and if it could be dangerous in terms of duplicate content as Google now had a lot of books online.

I will take 4 or 5 paragraphs from a book related to the blogs topic and place it in the blog with full credit to the writer and a link back to Amazon using my affiliate code. I don't think this is unlike a newspaper running an excerpt series or teaser for the actual book.

I certainly don't over do it, as I might take 2 to 5 articles from each book and place them sporadically over the website, but again with proper credit and Amazon links.

What does everyone think of this strategy?

  • I don't there is anything wrong with this strategy. You are crediting the author and giving a link back to amazon. Amazon themselves display extracts and the authors are happy with this because it will help to sell the book.
