Your thoughts on .edu and .gov links

I would like to get your take on .edu and .gov links and if they still carry as much benefit as they used to. I've been doing some research but I get mixed results from different people and would like to get more input on this from you guys.

    I'm not sure if anything has changed at all from recent updates, but I have heard from multiple sources that backlinks from .edu and .gov sites are excellent for your sites search engine ranking.

    I believe a read somewhere that the fact that they are .edu or .gov does not matter, it's just that .edu and .gov are typically higher PR.

    Of course, if you are lucky to get the coments on edu or gov sites with high pr pages approved.you will get a better SERP surely. And i think it is better to use multiple seo methods to achieve the better result.
