IM Video Product Storage Solution?

Okay, so we're approaching the end of my latest (and greatest ) weight loss product, which is my first step into doing a full video-based product.

As hubby was in the process of editing a video the other evening, we hit an unexpected problem.

ScreenFlow couldn't save the document because we'd run out of space.

Initially, we thought it was a problem with the program.

But no, my 1TB drive has literally filled up in the process of creating this product. Hundreds of gigs have disappeared.

At the moment we're transferring about 250GB over to an external HD to make some space, but that doesn't solve the issue we're faced with.

Clearly, making 720p videos with separate high quality audio files, take up A LOT of space.

We knew it did, but this has still taken us by surprise.

The thing is, I'll be creating more video products in the future, so we need a robust solution.

Can anyone here who makes HD video products recommend a solution?

Is there a multi hard drive storage solution or something for Macs?

Any help appreciated.

    • My query isn't about hosting, Paul. I've got that sorted okay.

It's storing all the original files, edited files, and finished files.
  • Thanks for replying, Michael.

Do you use S3 instead of external hard drives, or both?

We've been researching and looking at Thunderbolt Western Digital Drives like this.

I don't currently have a Thunderbolt iMac, but an upgrade wouldn't be impossible. The difference in speed is not insignificant, and would allow saving directly to external HD in an easy and painless manner.
