Is a Paid Webinar like Russell Brunson's $47 ok for a WSO?

This might be a dumb question.

I saw a webinar that Russell Brunson charged $47 for.

I have a different topic and was wondering if I try to teach it via a long webinar with live Q/A (voice/chat). My question is are we allowed to charge for a live webinar and give the recording in case people can't make it to the live webinar?

Is this against any rules if it was a WSO? I looked at a bunch of WSO couldn't find one that charged for a webinar, so I wanted to make sure before I break any rules.

  • Webinars are an excellent way to train people. Like a live class, but without the inconvenience of travel.

There have been lots of paid webinar WSOs. I can't think of a good reason why they wouldn't be allowed.

If it's going to be a long class, I'd recommend that you split it over more than one session though.

usually webinars are free, I visited tons, none charged. The whole purpose of webinar is to give something of value for free and then in the end offer product or service that solves a problem related to the topic of webinar. Some webinars holder also convert video into mp3 and also transcribe it and then sell the whole thing as wso. What you are talking about is more like private coaching, not a webinar format i think.

Honestly I think live q/a's are one of the only things I would give money for. There are too many free recordings out there already.

No, the purpose of a webinar is to provide information. Some use it as a sales platform, lead generation, etc. To say the platform should always be free with a pitch doesn't make sense to me.

  • There's a huge difference between free webinars, which are probably mostly pitch, and paid webinars, designed to train you and provide you with information.

My time's valuable, so I'd take the paid option to avoid the pitch every time.

I don't think that it is worth it unless it is free. We are in the internet age, information should all be free!

      You can absolutely do this.

Record it, upload to a members area, and there you can add any other goodies you want.

One site I'm currently a member of does a fresh live webinar every 2 weeks or so on a different topic. I paid quite a bit more than $47 - but it has a lot more stuff going on. This was not a WSO - but if what you are offering is along the same lines where you are actually training to do things then you should ignore those looking for the freebies above me.

Not all webinars are 2 hour pitches.

      You're being sarcastic right?

      To the OP,
I think it would be better to "bundle" your webinar into a product with an ebook that goes into detail about whatever is you want to teach. This way you are selling an ebook with a live class and Q&A that will offer more value to your prospects.

You couldn't be more wrong. Free information is actually the most COSTLY information you ever get, for many reasons.

If I were a customer I would much prefer a set of tutorial videos and/or pdf than a webinar. I'm sick of sitting through webinars and wasting a whole heap of my time to learn very little. Infact I can't remember the last webinar I attended.

The only advantage a live webinar has over a video is possibly a Q and A section at the end. If you stand by your product and provide people with your email address for any questions they have then there's no need to make it a live event.

If I have the videos and/or pdf then I can learn things at my own pace which I MUCH prefer.

Webinars can be useful in teaching your followers. This way you can bridge distances in kilometers, states, continents. Beeing separated and yet together...

But, I share Wills' opinion with this. Some webinar is good, some not so much.

Candidates can learn the most from that webinar, where

      - there isn't lots of mumbo jumbo - just facts,

      - the sales pitch doesn't run through most of the time,

      - the speaker doesn't polishes himself unnecessarily,

      - they show you specific examples, from which you can take ideas,

      - spend enough time on the Q/A section appropriate to the subject and the level of the candidates,

      - follow-up the candidates, how they use what they heard.

If you are lucky to attend on a good one, you can learn a lot.

      All the best,

        I completely agree with Sandor.

Webinars are mean't to teach or inform peers or followers. Not sell them something they don't know how to use. I know this isn't the case with most (I hope )

I am currently a creative developer working with marketers and online / offline business. I develop visual graphics, Wordpress modifications, server setup and maintenance, email marketing, text effects, vector designs, and video motion graphics.

I'm wondering ( now pondering ) putting together a webinar or video class on helping newbies create top quality launches and niche sites with out the outsourcing costs and time. This stuff is easy to do and I can show them how.

I would be available 24/7 for Q & A as well. I love to help people

The questions is would this be of interest to any Warriors new and old?

        Any thoughts...

That all depends on the speaker, content and the relevancy of it to you. Paid webinars are becoming popular and if you get a chance to get to know the secrets or your doubts clarified all in one webinar, that is indeed great and worth your money right?

Paid webinars work well with people that know you and your products. Free webinars are great when working with joint ventures or any list that doesn't know you as well. The free format is great for establishing yourself as an expert - something they would never know if you offered a paid webinar that they don't buy. Free formats are good for building lists as well.

From the other responses, it sounds like some like live, some don't. Some like paid, some like free. Sounds like it could be a good situation for split testing.

I think it depends on what your topic is! I'm currently offering a webinar, just put on the final touches on the sales page today, it's a paid webinar not aimed at the IM crowd and I just had my first attendee register and paid in full!

I'd prefer a paid webinar since I know there's no pitch and I'm expecting high value, high content. If you're planning just educating and including a pitch, then I'd offer it for free. Once again, it also depends on your target market--in IM I think the norm is for a free webinar to introduce an idea or individual followed by a pitch.
