From .doc to .mobi – Making a Kindle book, clean and simple – Christopher Ruz - Author & Designer

The guy is a successful writer. I've enjoyed a few pages on the site, like Why 1000 words a day is easy and quick

Just in case some of you might enjoy them too.

    Thanks LLoyd. That's a keeper.

I've been using Adobe InDesign with Amazon's Kindle Plug-in to create Kindle books, but InDesign is an expensive, difficult to learn program.

This makes Christopher Ruz makes it easy from Word.

I'll pass this along over at one of the publishing newsgroups I haunt.

Hi Lloyd - thanks very much for linking this around, I'm glad it's helped some folk out. I relied on a lot of other people's piecemeal advice to develop this streamlined process, so I felt compelled to pass it one. Feel free to drop me a line if anything in the tutorial needs clarification! And good luck with all your ebooking business ventures, too.

Thanks for dropping by and expressing that Chris. That was unexpected, but appreciated.

I saw the url on reddit and I expect the traffic from this page was just a drop compared to the traffic from reddit. It surprises me that you noticed and found the source.

My blog allows me to track most incoming links, so there wasn't much detective work involved. I'm just really happy to see my how-to guides actually being shared around in the wild - I suppose it means I've done some good.

That method is a nightmare. Believe me, I tried!

If you wrote the book in Word, it's much faster and cleaner to convert the Word document to Kindle, even if you have to do an extra round of proofreading to match the Word doc to changes you made after you put the book into InDesign.
