Launching a new blog-help me plan it out

I am launching a blog for a reality show (don't give me that look!)I am a big fan of and I hope to make money off an affiliate program that is closely related to the show while writing about a show I have a true passion to watch. The show begins in July and I wanted to gain some insight from the knowledgeable warrior community. My main concern is, how do I build up traffic that is aware of the existence of the blog and hopefully uses it as a source of information once the show is actually airing. I am going to go the route of buying the domain instead of using a free blogger. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    You could go to forums related to the show and post comments mentioning the blog.
    You could submit articles and slide presentations to article & presentation sites.
    You could create some simple videos using still images and submit them to video sites w/links back to your blog.

    Don't push your blog on people, just create an interest and let their curiosity take them there.

    Definitely, Karl, this is wholly meant to only appeal to people who are interested in the show as well, I am just looking for pointers beyond ranking well on Google. I think submitting articles is a great start and hitting the forums was one of those "under my nose" sort of things. Thanks!

    This kind of stuff is perfect for twitter. Find out what hash tags the show is using and what hash tags fans are using, track the comments and reply to ones that you can give meaningful input into. You should be able to get a good following this way. Every once in a while plug one of your post and make sure you include the hash tags the community is using.

    Maybe have a contest around the show. People could share and vote on who will win or who their favorite character.

    Here is my advice....your affiliate program should be "watch Show X online" so promote a "watch TV" product like Satellite direct from clickbank...next...

    TRAFFIC...you need to watch the show then pick up on any trends that the show will produce...for example...let's say your show is american idol...

    Well Phillip Phillps just won american idol and millions of people were searching for his name the next day...if you had a you tube video made that was about Phillip Philips winning american idol...that had a link to your website in it with the title being "Phillip Philips Wins American Idol and Cries Off The Stage!" and description being "Watch the rest of this video at my website" then you are in the money cause Google will put you #1-3 in their search results....and if you have an awesome sales page.... you bank some serious coin....while laughing to the bank of course....
