Anybody ever banned by amazon because of mostly irrelevant sales?

Hey guys,

I just started out with amazon and so far so good. After reading here and there for quite a while on this forum, I found that amazon seems to be pretty strict recently and they would ban people for silly reasons(or maybe simply to profit themselves) some times.

I've made 40+ sales already this month but none of them are the products I was promoting on my site. Would amazon ban you because of this? Do you guys always get sales from the product you are promoting or mostly they are from irrelevant products as well?

    I have never experienced this, or even heard of it. If you're generating sales, I'm sure they don't give a damn where they come from (as long as your inside the TOS)

      So in what percentage of your sales are actually coming from the products you are promoting on your site? 40+ sales and none is just a little weird to me and it makes me worry a bit.

        probably around 50% are actual product i'm promoting. 25% are related products and another 25% are completely unrelated. this are broad figures, but you get the picture.

        maybe you should start promoting the products which are selling

        As long as you aren't using a short link / tracking link, you should be fine. Amazon now bans you for doing that, which is totally silly since their tracking only updates every 24 hours or so.

    also you have no need to worry whatsoever, it's part of the deal that you get commission on sales for products you don't directly promote. the one thing to bear in mind, is that you get less commission on those items.

    It's something you can't control, isn't it? People click on your affiliate links, go to Amazon's, cookie placed, they buy something and you get the commission. I don't think Amazon cares. Otherwise, they would change the cookie system.

    Personally, I haven't had any problem so far. And I like using that data for my business. Like Matt said, it shows you what's selling. Why not expanding your business with new products?

    I have had this happen several times of getting a commission from Amazon of an item I'm not promoting. This happens a lot, people land on your site, click on an Amazon link, then while they are on Amazon they see something they need and they buy. So Amazon made a sale and you earned a commission..............it is a win win for both of you.

    I wouldn't worry as long as you're adhering to their TOS. I've been an Amazon affiliate for five years and many of my sales are absolutely unrelated, never had an issue and never heard of anyone being banned because of that reason either. So be happy about your sales

      As others have said, so long as you are following TOS you will be credited for any and all sales you make no matter what the product. I have sold all kinds of things I was not promoting. Another reason to love being an Amazon affiliate.

    I'm guessing there is something else going on here... are you buying traffic? Faking referrers? You might want to go over their operating agreement with a fine tooth comb to see if there is something else you've overlooked.

    I've gotten banned from Amazon for making too much money too fast. You're getting 40+ sales per day?... dont be surprised if the amazon police comes knocking.
