Best place to host 15 domains

You're never going to find only good reviews about a web host, as with most things in life. I've used Hostgator for probably 3 or 4 years now, and have no cause for complaint. I'll be getting another account from them soon. They've given me no reason to look elsewhere.

Everyone swears by HostGator, but I use Bluehost. Buy once... host as many as you want. unlimited everything. good support, and they have the same cPanel as hostgator.

I have dedicated servers, but I know plenty of people who swear at Hostgator.

They are a good host, but if you start getting excessive traffic or use IM software from their extensive list, they separate you from the server and give you a week to find a new home.

I can understand that - it is to protect the people the service is mostly designed for - static HTML sites.

A VPS is by far the best solution if you don't need a full dedicated.

I too am a HostGator user, and have been for 2-3 years. I'm hosting a dozen sites there now, and pay $9.95 a month via my PayPal account.

Even if I run into a problem caused by the "tech dummy syndrome" I've received quick response from Tech Support.

I will suggest Dreamhost. Unlimited domains, huge bandwidth & disk space. You can find huge discount codes with some google search and get your first year for ~$20 . Then you pay ~$100 for the next years.

I'm currently with hostgator on a shared.

They give you the possibility to host unlimited domains and mysql databases (I think mysql is limited to 100db but hey .. that's a lot) .. not mentioning the traffic. I'm very happy with the customer support (always there when you need them) ... and this only for $9.xx a month (because I'm paying monthly, if you pay upfront for a year it's $7.xx)

Wow everyone giving out credits to the resellers. Godaddy and hostgator . Why not just go to the source? Theplanet I have been with them some time and I am very happy. Honestly if you go to the source instead of through Theplanet resellers you will get a better deal in the long run.

I have used hostgator since they started 2003 (if my memory serves me correctly) and I have two dedicated servers, a reseller account and thier 'business' account with free 0800 and ssl certificate. I have also used nearly all of the other hosting companies but none even come close to hostgator in terms of value for money.

Thier support is first class.

I can also say that Hostgator is good, having used them for a couple of years or so, no complaints.

I also have a VPS with Liquidweb. This would be ideal for 15 websites. Those guys have the best customer service that I have come across on the Web - very fast.

I paid my fees all at once (charged annually rather than monthly) so I don't pay any monthly fees (per se).

Try StartLogic
StartLogic offers a full line of solutions for personal, businessn and education for their customers.

I think they have great customer support and they helped me every time.

Their prices are avg. and they do not try to up sell everything under the sun when you buy something.

I also like host gator features like fantastico tool that help you build word press
blog.

Godaddy has too much crap to go through, the site is slow and their customer service is poor - yet I do have 2 web sites there and still buy domains because they are cheap.

I just joined hostaGator, and its $10 for unlimited domain hosting and there is a 'live Chat' + Paypal.

Liquidweb are excellent.

I would suggest a VPS over shared hosting. Costs more but you get guaranteed resources and above all root access to Linux - I could not function effectively without command line access.

Also you will never get thrown off the service - like Hostgator seem prone to doing - if you use alot of resources or use scripts they do not approve of.

I have a couple of sites hosted with GoDaddy but I find them rather expensive and they always try and upsell you. I have several features that I have never used because when I first registered with them I was persuaded I needed them, and these bump up the price a lot. But I find them reliable.

The rest of my sites, apart from one for historical reasons, are hosted on my HostGator account, which I find excellent value for money, easy to administer, and with very good support. The big plus for me about HostGator is that you can host unlimited sites for one low monthly fee on a reseller account.

I always recommend a serious IM to skip shared hosting altogether and start with a VPS - which you can get for less than $50 per month, and then aspire to a fully dedicated.

I could not even think of hosting without full root shell access - in fact my business could not even function.

Your attitude towards these fundamentals can and will affect your results.

If you think small, or minimalistic, or cheapskate, your results will match.

Think big to be big.

Shared hosting is not for serious IM, and a VPS is not that much more unless you are planing to make less than $30 per month.

You never mentioned whether or not you want a reseller account where you can put each domain on it's own account, or just an account where you can host many domains as add-on domains.....

If you're just looking for good cheap hosting with no ads, where you can host "unlimited" domains (as add-on domains), it doesn't get any cheaper than "free"....

I can't disagree with that and as you say, free and no advertising.

I have one account with them which I keep to ensure that nothing changes there, as I recommend them to clients who are new to the IM scene and have limited money to spend.

The one warning that I would give though, is that they log you out of your account frequently and without notice. If this happens when you are editing a file, even your index file, then the entire file is lost. So you must back up to your own drive or remote server frequently while you edit files with 000webhost.

Apart from this, they are a good start up hosting provider in my opinion.

Okay, before I make a mistake in my host selection, I see that there is a difference between a host that offers unlimited domains and one that offers a reseller account. But I'm not understanding what that difference is.

So, what is the catch? When I see an ad for unlimited domains, what is the host actually selling me?

In a nutshell, having a shared hosting account with unlimited add-on domains lets you login to your hosting account with 1 username/password to administer all of your domains. With a reseller account, each domain is hosted under its own username/password.

Lets say you want to sell one of your domains: if you're on a shared hosting platform you'll have to transfer the domain to your buyer, edit dns settings for the new host, and waste a lot of time. In a reseller environment, you sell the domain name and offer "free" hosting for a year for $xx and then just give the buyer the username/password for that domain and you're done. Literally, I could transfer one of my domain names to you in about 20 seconds!

With a shared hosting account, if all your sites are running complicated scripts that are CPU and memory intensive (Joomla, Wordpress, etc) you can put a big strain on the server. If your host catches you, they can (at their leisure) suspend your account. If that happens you would lose access to ALL your domains because they're being hosted under 1 main account in a shared environment. If you're just hosting a handfull of sites and they all use static HTML you would stay under the radar.

In my opinion, host each domain under its OWN hosting account. Even if you have to host with 000webhost.com you at least can keep all of your domains seperated. Better yet, get a reseller account and be done with it.

I use HostGator and have been very satisfied with the service and support but I also like Bluehost and have gotten very good feedback about them as well.

I see many different recommendations in this post but it does look like HostGator and Bluehost are the favorites.

I saw were someone suggested GoDaddy for hosting, I would just stick with them or NameCheap for domain registration only.

I really like Host Nine and their support is excellent ... Unlimited bandwidth and domains for $9.99 a month. Plus they do DAILY backups of your site, unlike Host Gator which only does it once a week. So if your site gets hacked you better hope it was close to the backup day and they charge you $15 to bring your site back up ... Host Nine charges you nothing

Okay, I don't know what I was thinking when I said this:

In a reseller environment, you sell the domain name and offer "free" hosting for a year for and then just give the buyer the username/password for that domain

Obviously you cannot offer "free" hosting for $xx! But, when you sell your domain name just tell the buyer you'll throw in a year of hosting, no charge.

I'd have to recommend HG as well. Very reliable and the CS is pretty good. Id stay away from GD as a host. Pretty good as a Domain registrar though.

I use hostmonster. It's reliable, has a great reputation and you can have a free domain registered as part of the hosting package. I have 18 domains with them and I think they are great. No pressure, no problems and when something doesn't work well ( always my fault) they help me work it out with their tech support. I think they are great and for $5.95 per month. How can you go wrong?

Hostgator. I've hosted with them for the past 3 years and so far so gd. Their 24/7 live support is reliable too. I think that's an important aspect you might want to consider when it comes to choosing your web host.

I use Hostgator, Bluehost, Lunarpages and many other smaller hosts. If you have small sites, you can get cheaper deals.

Everyone has good suggestions and reports for their particular host (except for GoDaddy) but I wanted to ask a question.

The OP asked the best place to host 15 domains, but I was wondering about the practical limits of each webhost. Given that I'll be wanting to drive a great money making amount of traffic to each domain (lets say 2000 visits a day), if I use Hostgator (for example) how many sites will be practical?

According to the user agreement I can have a unlimited number of addon domains. But there has to be a technical limit.

It depends on the design of your website. Hostgator allows unlimited domains, but they have restrictions on the number of inodes and CPU usage.

I have been with a few hosts. streamline.net and strato-- not good whatsoever. waited days for support and they have premium numbers for support with long waiting times.

I now use hostgator. they were recommended to me and I am very happy with them. 24hr online support and the advisers are educated in their fields. I think i have the baby crocodile package and can host unlimited domains and mysql databases. they have fantastico which makes it very easy to install many programmes.

the decision is yours and i dont have any complaints for hostgator whatsoever.

If you want 15 unique IP addresses and lots of bandwidth, I would suggest hostexcellence.com for your hosting. I have two accounts with them, 30 unique IPs and my authority sites sit on them.

I don't think you can go wrong with Hostgator. I've used them for years and can't fault them. But really, there are loads of good ones. Stop umming and ahhing about which one to use.

Just pick one (there have been plenty of good ones mentioned) and spend your time figuring out how to make the cash instead

  Like many people here I have hostgator shared, and it's very good for the basic stuff. The service ticket system is really good, they always get back to me quickly.
  
  When you get into some more serious stuff, using cronjobs to do automated functions etc. then shared hosting starts to be a limitation. But for basic hosting it does everything. I've got a good 30 domains on there. And the cpanel is easy to work with.
