Difficulty with making decisions

I find it extremely difficult to make a decision

I keep over analyzing an idea to the point of not knowing what to do anymore.
Its basically because I'm worried I will invest much time and maybe money in something that will never pay off.

How do you start something when you have no guarantees for the outcome ?

    1. By realizing that THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES IN LIFE
    2. Quit using fear and doubt as a distraction from moving forward
    3. Observe what is working for others
    4. Follow their lead and ACT on it
    5. Measure results
    6. If you're really stuck, find a mentor to work directly with (use caution as their are many fakes)

Analysis paralysis will keep you at the dreaming stage; ACTION and DOING will propel you forward. Do something EVERY SINGLE DAY to move your business forward.

The longest journey begins with a single step, but first you've got to take that step -- and then keep putting one cyber foot in front of the other until you reach your destination ... even if you go off the path at times.

    Best of luck to you.

Yes, that's true. Business owners do the research and jump in with similar investments to keep any possible loss minimal, but you have to get started because experience is the best teacher!

Hey any business decision or for that matter any decision in life can be a bit of a gamble. However when you have done the proper research on what you have targeted, you can pretty well put the odds in your favor.

Something as simple as making a decision to get out of bed can result in a good day you will never forget or just the opposite can happen. So there is the gamble again.

Failure to pull the trigger means you will never be able to find out if it works or not.

Totally understand where you're coming from. Most everyone coming online has the same fears, especially after spending too much time and money on things that didn't work, or that you didn't actually want to stick with.

Once you find something you like, stick with it for at least a couple months. If you don't see ANY results after using as many free methods as possible (and what I mean by ANY is no opt-ins, no connection built with anyone, not necessarily a sale of any kind), then consider trying something else. But the main thing is to be decisive as possible and give it a shot.

Just jump in head first. The fastest way to learn is to be in the jungle and fend for yourself. This will solve your difficulty decision making very easy - because you will have seen almost everything that there is that is standing in your way of success.

This reminds me of another thread where someone pointed out the idea "dumb marketers" might actually end up doing better than "smart marketers".

While the statement seems rather rash, it does have a point. The reason being is that some "smart" marketers tend to over-analyze and over think things to the point where they either take to long to take action or psych themselves out of it. My personal suggestion is to find out what particular form of internet marketing you prefer most and what particular topic/niche interests you, and then take the risk to promote promote it. Whether your sacrifice is either your time or money, it's important to realize the importance of "taking action". The IM field is notorious for having the lowest risk and highest ROI out of most fields, so take that in mind. Nothing is ever riskless, but you can always maximize your potential if you take action, learn from your mistakes, and be consistent.

Choose 1 business model and 1 market and 1 product or 1 service. Commit and take steady action to the project for at least 6 months before looking at anything else. Analyze your progress and tweak it to get results. If after 6 months you can't get it off the ground...then pick a new model and market and repeat. When you find one that works, scale it up. This is a general answer but it should help you FOCUS: Follow One Course Until Successful.

The clock keeps ticking away whether you're doing something or not. If you choose to be frozen in the headlights you'll end up at the end of the road with dreary memories.

I once visited a nursing home and asked an old lady in her 90s if she would change anything about her life. She looked straight at me through thick cataracts and said, "Oh yes. I'd do more. I'd go out and see more things. I'd try more things. I wouldn't be so afraid of everything, like I was all through life."

But she wasn't finished. She reached out and took my arm and squeezed it really tight and said, "...because you know, we all end up right here here. We all die anyway, so why play it safe?"

Big lesson for me. Still think about it often.

It is best to use the ten second rule.

Set a timer for ten seconds and think about the options you have. If one option does not stand out in ten seconds, choose the first item on your list.

If you can't decide on an option in ten seconds, you will probably not be able to decide in ten days or ten months.

Usually the only difference between the options is how much work it will take to make the option successful.

I usually find I can make either option successful in the time I take procrastinating over which option to take.

Get rid of your fear of failure, I think that is what is causing your indecision.

When you have a feeling that you just got a good idea, act immediately.

Think about the "guaranteed outcome" of you choosing "not" to start (and finish) something, and do "nothing" instead, (I.E. you decide "not" to produce and launch your brilliant idea due to being unsure). By doing nothing you are guaranteeing yourself a "no results." Further more, if someone else beats you to the punch and launches a similar idea and becomes a success, you will not be happy.

It's similar to deciding whether to ask a girl out or not.
If you ask, there's a 50/50 chance of a yes.
If you don't ask, there's a 100% chance of no.
(and someone else will ask instead).

Now go get that girl., I mean, finish and launch that project!

I was going to say the same thing.

@Lets get started - Look at the above and ask yourself, "What is the cost of not starting? What will you miss out on?"

You might not have a guarentee that things will work out, but even if you fail the first time or second time, each time your skills and knowledge grows. and as your skill and knowledge grows your chances for success increase.

And you never know the first thing you choose you might do really good at.

But you'll never know until you choose and take action.

Also, instead of focusing on if things will work out or not, how about taking action and seeing if you can just make your first sale. That's it.

Don't worry about $1,000/month, or $2,000/month or $10,000 or whatever.

Just focus on making that first sale.

Now, go and get it done!

Seem like you might information overload. Information overload might not a good thing in planning as well.
You need to make sure that every campaign you did have ROI. It might not immediate but need to have return in some period of times. You need to have contingency plan as well instead what you spend it not work and you need come with second plan to cover the loss and keep your business keep on going.

I had the same problem for a long time.

In fact I think I must have bi-polar or something because it was either that or the exact opposite where I would jump straight into something and end up failing miserably without any due diligence what so ever!

What I figured out was that if you do enough analysis of the market, customers, price, competitors and everything else you will realize if your idea is viable or not. At the end of the day all you are aiming to figure out is if you can make money and turn your idea into a sustainable business.

Simply asking people will give you a good idea, but remember to ask the right people. Asking a family member or friend that cares about you is not a good idea because they care about you (you would hope so lol!) and they will not want to hurt your feelings.

This forum is a great place to start

    Otherwise good luck!

There is a known term for the problem you mentioned "Analysis paralysis"

    It's very common.

My guess is that you're reading a lot of ideas and information and you're not sure which one to start with. Why not take a little bite out of each of them and see which one sticks!?

I did this a few years ago. I decided to set up 10 Adword campaigns selling 10 different niche Clickbank products.

I would only spend 2-3 hours each day doing the analysis and setting up the campaign. I followed a formula in selecting the clickbank niches/products.

At the end of it one of the products did significantly better than the others and I ended up setting up a little affiliate site, spending money on outsourced SEO and it made me $300+ per month.

    Cheers

I don't get it.... We don't even know that we will make it to tomorrow night. Why live your life being scared:confused: Look if you fail you will be like every other success story in history. We all fail at some point. If you don't even try you know for certain that you will never succeed. How many people never try.

If you have an idea do some research. Look into forums, check Google, look on YouTube. Find out if a market exists. If it does. Do you have a solution to their problem. If not try something else. Stop looking in your inbox, stop thinking and just do. Get some motivational material. The list goes on and on. This may sound like a Tony Robbins seminar, but no great reward came without a great risk first. I would rather live my life knowing I gave it everything I could. What do you want from your life.

    Hi there!

It is Normal when you start out. The key is to understand that you need a plan to start with, Ideally Step-By-Step plan with a little help from an expert when you have a question and get stuck wondering. There are plenty you can find here.

The problem is not with Most products that find here but with the person who buys it and what he/she does with it. Like most weight lose programs will not work for many people not because of the program/product but becasuse of the person who use it does not like to pay the price. I mean does not like to follow the program 100% instead they expect miracles to happen.

Please educate your self and take actions, if decide to follow a program, follow it to the word. Make sure to have support along with it from the person who created it. You can see results.
