What to do if Facebook and Twitter Username is Taken

Hi Warriors,

After starting this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...do-you-do.html I have been on a mission to try come up with a decent brand name, it has me obsessed - and sadly I'm not very far at all!

So the question is, if you have an idea for a domain name and the Facebook and Twitter username is taken, but you really plan to build a brand then what would you do?

Add someone onto the username?
#facebook #twitter #username

I would include the word 'official' on my FB and Twitter name, if that is the case.

    Depends on the brand.

If you're a person (ie barack obama), and that person is your brand, you can always put "The" in front of it. TheBarackObama. TheMileyCyrus. Etc.

You could do that if your brand is a phrase as well, I guess, but it works better with people, I 'd say.

Official, as mentioned, is pretty good, but you could also use the word "Real" or add a word that fits your niche. Ie, if you're a copy writer, and your brand is "CopyRoom" you could add "writer" to the end. If your brand is clothing, you could add clothing to the end. Etc.

    Hope this helps!

Michael! You make it sound so easy, sadly I've been stuck on this for the past 2 weeks already and I'm already $85 down after starting name contests that haven't got me far at all

It's a pitty that I lack creativity in this part of the business

You could also offer to buy the handles from the people who currently have them. That's something I've been doing recently. Has limited success, but hey no harm in trying!

That sounds like a good idea, but I do believe it would be breaking the terms and conditions, but if it works then yeah!

Pretty sure that is against the TOS of both Facebook and Twitter...

You can always throw a hyphen in. That's what I had to do with my personal name...
rose-anderson.com...since an erotica writer decided to use my real name as her pen name.
