Which would you prefer? Wordpress or blogspot?

and why?
#main internet marketing discussion forum #blogger #blogspot #wordpress
  • why would blogger delete the blog? may you please explain more?

I want to create another blog, trying to decide which one to use,

i have 3 blogs on blogger, and i really love blogger because of it is simple and easy to use.

When i looked at my friends wordpress blog, i kinda like it, (it has a fulll page unlike blogger)

if i can expand blogger post, it would be sweet!

    • If you make too many posts to your blog in say 1 day,

#1 - Your blog may be shut down for 'spamming'

      - you then need to request a review and politely explain what you were doing and did not intend to "spam". Hopefully Google will agree to reinstate your blog, although this is downtime for your blog until they respond. (I have seen this take up to 2 weeks)

To their robots it looks like spam when someone serial posts - that is post one after the other in rapid succession. You need a human to look at the facts, hence the review.

#2 - the purpose of having articles or blog posts is to create backlinks and to have fresh content.

    • I know that both of them are great!

At least tell me, why would you choose wordpress rather than blogger?
    • I like Blogger. It think it's really easy to use. WP has more power -
but today the WP interface is almost as easy as Blogger.

  • they both have their place. There tend to be more wordpress MU free sites for hosting zero-cost wordpress blogs (if you're into autoblogging). Finding blogger clones is a bit more difficult (though they do exist :-).

    Is that a real question?

    WORDPRESS ALL THE WAY!

Seriously, my business would be sunk if it weren't for WP blogs. Using them for membership sites, traffic generators, optin forms, etc.

Blogger is so limited though...especially since it's a hosted platform via Google.

Yes, blogger blogs get more attention and love from Google, because it's their 'baby'.

But seriously, my WP blogs outrank all of my blogger blogs (I have 10 of them out there).

I just like WP because you have more flexibility with it. And if you're swift with PHP coding, you can trick it out however you like.

    • not good in PHP coding hehe,

yeah, somethings that wordpress can handle but blogger could not.

I like wordpress because it looks more like professional blogging :p

      but blogger is user friendly
  • My choice is Wordpress. There are a lot of free themes, great plugins which helps alot in optimization, functionality and etc.

      Just curious.

  • I made a quick video outlining the benefits of both.

Both are useful and have their place.

    YouTube - Wordpress vs Blogger

  • I don't see them as an apples to apples comparison.

If you want total control and real customization, use self-hosted Wordpress. I don't use Wordpress.com for anything.

If you just want to post and don't care if your blog gets deleted by Blogger if you make a mistake, use Blogger.

I have tested concepts on Blogger and built the full site out of Wordpress so I can customize to the hilt.

I love WP for eBay and Amazon.

I love Blogger for adsense and flowing traffic to money sites. I treat it like I would Squidoo or Hubpages.

So they serve different purposes IMO.
  • I love the versatility of Wordpress. With so many plug-ins, you're able to do basically anything you need with a simple upload! (I'm speaking about self-hosted wordpress).

I have blogs/sites on both platforms. I think blogger is a tad bit easier/userfriendly, however, Wordpress from my perspective is by far superior.
  • Kinda of two different things, or not quite clear. Blogger is a free hosted blog platform, where Wordpress can be either self hosted or hosted by wordpress. Not sure what exactly your asking. I wouldn't use Wordpress blogs hosted by wordpress because they are quick to delete your blog if you use it for marketing or link building.

If you asking just as a blog platform in general, it depends on what you want to do. If it's just to blog and nothing more, either on would be fine. Wordpress though, has much more flexibilty, as others have mentioned, can do so much more with it. Just my opinion

    • Wordpress has great style, and an excellent community of readers and writers and that makes it great for sharing our writing and ideas.

Blogger on the other hand is so simple. One can set up a new blog lickety split, and even add Google Adsense to create revenue instantly.
  • The popularity war in the blogosphere has no doubt emerged significantly in recent years due to business owners, entrepreneurs, agencies, and people who are experts in some strange things, having become more aware of the leverage and gravity blogs can attract.

To make a better decision between choosing Blogger.com or Wordpress.org really depends on what your intentions are for the blog you want to create. Blogger, of course, is a free service provided by Google. They're very easy to set up and use. For the more creative and personal type, blogger allows you to almost completely customize your blog to enable you to make it look very unique. Posting to your blog is very easy and Blogger makes it easy for you to install and plug-in other web 2.0 social media and social booking marking applications. Blogger is a great and easy to use tool but this platform has its limitations.

What is most distinctive about Wordpress from Blogger, is that it is a free open-source platform. This means that Wordpress scripts are free to use in anyway you wish. This provides a-lot of flexibility for the user. Like Blogger, Wordpress offer a service which allows you to host a blog on Wordpress.com. However, what's more about Wordpress is that you can install their blogging script to your own site. The biggest challenge with Wordpress hosted on your own domain is that it does require installing the Wordpress scripts yourself. If you don't know what you're doing you may become easily frustrated. However, Wordpress have a panel of features to assist you with the installation process.

The most important thing to note here is that Wordpresses challenges can also bring the greatest rewards. The consensus among most internet marketing professionals is that Wordpress better serves the user dynamically in terms of flexibility, diversity, and useability, now and in the long-term.
  • If you are talking about the free blog platforms: Blogger is easier to monetize with adsense etc. Wordpress is very strict about no monetization. It is always better to have mix of platforms though so I would go with both Blogger and Wordpress.

    • Wordpress is best for hosted blogs. Blogger is best free blog platform.
I would not put a main site on blogger as it could be delete also you
cannot sell a blogger blog that I am aware of.
  • I would have to say WordPress because of the huge amount of themes and plugins. There are "bugs" and flaws not to be ignored, but can be worked around.

  • this is a great thread especially for me, i use blogger at the moment and am changing to wordpress, so its good to read peoples views
