Have you used "Wix" for building website? Benefits vs Drawbacks?

I just came across Wix website builder, it seems to turn out decent looking websites. What are the benefits and drawbacks to using it?

    Well I guess Wix is the one which I tried before for my personal blog and I didn't pursue it. I was limited to what they only have for me. I felt that there was no way for me to customize it the way I wanted it (or perhaps I just didn't know how to do it back then - years ago - LOL)....

    Wix's PROs:

    Damn easy to use, even a tech-nerd like me can create a stunningly beautiful website within 30 minutes or so.

    Wix's CONs:

    Server is damn slow, you're not allowed to shift host (back in 2010 - i'm not sure about now).

    Cannot install "proper" wordpress blog

    It's a reputable company, but I still wouldn't recommend it. There are a lot of complaints about their servers being slow.

    Even though their site design is nice, you have to host with them at about twice the going rate of what a multiple site hosting account would cost you. Just doesn't make sense.

      I think they're probably a good and underrated host.

      There used to be a problem that they offered flash-based sites only (not good for SEO) but that's no longer the case, now.

      In the past, when I've wanted to put up "this kind of site", I've sometimes used Weebly Pro (which I also like) mostly because of my SEO worries about Wix flash sites, but now that they have non-flash-based ones too, I'd be perfectly willing to try them. They do, as you say, have some very nice designs available.

      Will be interested to hear how you get on there, if you try them.
