Penguin update vs numbers in domain names

Hi there,

I have a quick question that am unsure related to the new Penguin updates and how they impact domain names (.com).

Will having a number at the beginning of a domain name affect search engine positioning/SEO and does google rank domains names containing a number lower than without with the new google algorithm?

Reason why I ask this is that I am looking at possibly purchasing an online store which contains a number in the domain name and am not sure if search engine rankings for this 3+ yr old business will be affected due to the reason why this website is for sale.

Any feedback much appreciated

Well, all you're going to get here are guesses.
    here is mine:
There are far more important factors to worry about, that affect the rankings.
As for the k'word dillution, it actually could help, with the G alg update, just a few weeks ago. They announced that the exact match domains will be penalised for... being exact.
Yes, G is the only benefactor of the whole SEO mess it creates, by keeping everybody swaying to their tune.

Thanks stan and gee I didn't notice until now as per your reply that exact match domains will be penalised for being exact by Google.
