  • You do not want to many keywords that will leave your website looking a mess. The only thing I know about is article writing and that would be keyword in the title 2 -3 times every 100 words and then the last word of the article should be your main keyword you are targeting again.

    • I know there is a guideline for this and I suppose it would be worthwhile to keep in mind, but honestly I have NEVER paid any attention to it when writing content for my websites.

You will also NEVER have to worry about it either if you write REAL content with a natural flow of words, structure and value for the reader.

  • I think you could keep to using 5-10 keywords in the keywords tag so it wouldn't look your webpage won't look too messy. Don't spend too much time on your keywords tag though, i don't think google looks at it as important now.

    • That is far too many. From experience, one keyword per
page is the best way to focus on your page's keyword.

Got more than one keyword? make a page for each.

  • The maximum keyword I would recommend is 3. If you have anything more than that, it will look like keyword stuffing and will only bring your negative result
  • I disagree with that low number.

But let me qualify it. If the keywords appear in your content, then you can place your choice keys in the meta tag. I would keep it to less than 20.
  • Google ranks your keywords in your content higher than the keyword tag anyways.
  • Meta keywords tag has little to zero worth in SEO.

If you're asking on how many keywords to target in your content, the maximum should be three. Not because there's a specific rule, but more than 3 may dilute the message of your article. And you don't want to confuse Google what's your content is all about.

    • I think I read somewhere saying that Google do not count how many meta keywords tag any more. But I just use about 3. I also use one keyword at beginning of the content, one in the middle and one at the end. I think it should be good enough.

      Thanks

    • That's an expensive tool if it'd only used as an SEO aid.
