Make money online with a contest! (question)

Dear warriors,

My friend was thinking to create a website where he will set up a contest in which people should send 1 message with their phone number in order to participate into the contest and have the chance to win the product he is about to give!

The message will be charged $1.....and the product which he is about to give will be a new laptop for example worth $1000!

Is it possible for this idea to work worldwide ? I am talking about the ability of the phone services to work with such an idea...

    If set up right it can work, and can bring in a lot of income.

    But, I don't know about the legal actions you have to go through to be allowed to host a lottery type contest. It might have some legal implications that might make it 'not worth it', depending on the money you intend to invest in such a venture.

    You may want to consult a legal adviser.

    There are several concerns with this:
    1. This may be illegal in many countries because t could be considered a "lottery" and you need a license and approval for that.
    2. Many people would not participate if they knew of the charge. Because you HAVE to tell them, it may not work out.
    3. Collecting the money would be a struggle, and there are many situations where you could be sued.

    It's a cool idea, but from a legal and fictional standpoint, I really wouldn't go near this.
