Linking to single CJ products with my affiliate links via my own images.

Ok, so I want to link to a vendor's single products and this vendor is using CJ as a affiliate program.

When I browse through the vendor's single products on CJ, I only get access to linked product images in HTML and below it says:

"You must include all the above html in your links. Any missing html, including the image source, will prevent the link from tracking properly and result in a loss of commissions."

But the problem is that I don't want to use these product images. I want to link my own "Check it Out" button with my affiliate link. But it looks like if I extract the affiliate link and link my own image with it, it won't track probably and therefore I lose my commissions

Anyone who have any suggestions to this?

Thanks a lot,

Jimmy

Did you ever figure this out? I'm just getting into this and I can't find the answer anywhere.

Most vendors will have a test link that you can use in images or with your own anchor text. If not you can try just using the link from the html without their image but if they explicitly say not then you could be in trouble later. What I would do is fire off an email to the affiliate manager, maybe even show him the pics you want to use and he should be able to help you out.

Did you check to see if CJ would let you create a special link, and then use that link with your own picture?

You can take their HTML link and remove the impression tracking pixel and the reference to the image. Tracking still works as long as you keep the redirect URL link unmodified. The reality is that not every site works by hosting the thumbnail images their advertisers provide. Also you have to modify the URL if you want to insert the sid= tracking parameter. The final redirect URL will look like this:

      http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-ID1-ID2?sid={insert_your_sid_here}&url=http%3A%2F%2Fww w.advertiser.com%2Flnk
