How Youtube Can Help You Create Tons Of Content For Your Site

These days, thin affiliate mini-sites don't have much value. The more content you have on your website the better. It is better to create authority websites rather than thin sites which have just a handful of articles on them.

Imagine having hundreds of pages on your blog and not having to spend more than 1 hour everyday for creating new content pages targeting different keywords. This can be done by utilizing a superb resource called Youtube.

If you have started a new blog where you have published a few articles, now is the time to increase the number of pages. First of all, make a list of at least fifty to 100 keywords related to your niche. Make sure each keyword is getting more than 1000 exact searches per month. Save this list of keywords.

Then each day, pick one keyword for creating a fresh new blog post. Head over to Youtube, search videos related to that keyword. Pick 1-3 videos which are at least a little bit informative about the topic and which are not overly promotional about their own products and websites.

Embed these videos in your post. Before or after each video, write 1-2 short paragraphs talking briefly about the video. Within 20-30 minutes, you will have a fresh, new blog post ready.

Just by spending half an hour a day you can keep creating fresh content daily for your blog. Within a couple of months, you can have fifty to 100 posts and your blog can start attracting traffic from long tail keyword variations. This is a very easy content generation strategy. You are legally using other people's content.

Nice to know this strategy is working for you. Do you use any kind of script to pull videos from Youtube based on keywords or do you do it manually? I personally don't like automated fetching of videos.

How are you monetising your site? How many posts do you put up per week? What are the average monthly revenues like?

I don't mean to demand for your information, just trying to understand the potential of this method. Thanks

This is surely an easy way to generate lots of content quickly for your websites. If your site has hundreds of pages, it will look like an authority site in Google's eyes as well as have a favorable impression on your site visitors.

Your site visitors need not know these videos are not your own. They are finding useful, engaging video content on the topic they want information on. So, they will perceive your site as authority and you might get good conversion rates if you are promoting affiliate or your own products or even building a list by advertising a freebie in the sidebar column of your blog.

This technique of embedding videos is a form of content curation which is hot these days. You can also embed documents from Scribd, authorstream, docstoc, slideshare etc, or embed good, relevant pictures from Flick or other photo sharing sites. All this adds to enhancing user experience on your site.

Most of the effective strategies in online marketing are really simple and many times obvious ones. But people overlook them and go for complicated, flashy or glamorous looking methods.

You sure got that right! I have a feeling we're all somewhat conditioned to place a higher value on strategies that involve spending money, or are complicated, but often the free and easy/simple/obvious things are just what's needed. Great reminder!

Thanks for sharing the plugin which automates this strategy. However, I have found that it is best to do this manually as you can select relevant and high quality, useful videos when you pick manually rather than letting a plugin do it.

Transcribing it and posting it would be copyright infringement. Try asking permission, as Fluffy said above.

This is a great method of adding media content without having to create your own videos. As long as you add commentary with your own unique perspective, then both Google and your readers will love it.

I think over-using this would not be a good idea, but over-using any one type of content is going to detract from your site.

I think one should always ask permission before transcribing more than a brief quote, but you are so wrong that people are better off watching than reading.

It of course depends on the video, but for videos that are just for delivering words, nothing could be further from the truth, if you consider that your time is your life. Watching someone talk is a terrible way of getting words delivered, unless it has a purpose (drama, humor, motivation), beyond just the words.

Reading vs watching has been debated a lot here, and there are definitely videos worth watching, but if you simply want to learn something that's explainable without visuals, video is rarely the best, easiest way to learn, and never the quickest. That is it's biggest downfall; reading even at a below average speed wins the race every time, and for referring back to, video is the hopeless loser.

LOL. I use youtube but not like this. I'm sure this can help rank your own website, but I'd much rather rank youtube videos, than drive traffic from those videos back to my site.

What I do is open up a sound editing program like FL Studio. I record 1 super long script. But I "spin" the script as I'm recording it. What I basically do, is repeat every sentence of the script off the top of my head, in multiple different ways.

I act like a human spinner.

I will eventually wind up with like a 10 minute long audio recording.

Then I use software in FL Studio to slice this down into small sound bytes.
Then I load all these sound bytes into a sampler.

Then I write about 10-15 different scripts, by remixing the bytes on Fl Studios piano roll. So I wind up with a new script everytime, but a script that still does exactly what it needs.

Eventually I render all these scripts into 2-3 minute audio files.

Then I take 1 script, load it into power director, and load a bunch of nice/relevant photos into it. Photos about my service, testimonials, etc.

Then I simply spin the photos with every new script I add.

    Then I render 10-15 videos.

    All videos target different keywords.

I optimize all the videos (intensively), then use 3 free online tools to backlink them.
Afterwards, I use scrapebox to blast each video with more links.

Then I go on fiver and order a special gig that saturates the videos with thousands up thousands of views. I'm not mentioning the gig because it took me too long to find. Many other gigs work, they just don't do as much.

All these videos are thrown in a system for 2 months, thanks to fiver, that saturates them with natural views/likes/subscribers/comments.

Some videos rank on page 1 of google within a few days.
Others rank on page 1 of google within a few weeks.
Others fall into the dual algorithm, get stuck on page 3 of google, but rank on page 1 of youtube.

The point is, they get A LOT of freaking traffic.
I have NEVER had a video penalized in any sort of way.

However, I do NOT go crazy with scrapebox either. I don't do thousands and thousands of links. I usually just submit to small autoapprove lists then do a lesser amount of high pr links.

People can question whether or not this works, but this is precisely what got me on tv. CBS found one of my videos, and I tipped my fiver guy $30 for helping me rank that video. All my other videos bring in calls all week.

The best part? I still have A LOT of keywords left to target. =]

You'll be able to spot the date the abuse starts - it's the date some automated site builder gains traction and a lot of people use it without thinking. It's the same idea behind autoblogging - if it's done right, you can't tell it's an autoblog. Get sloppy and/or lazy, and there will be a big old footprint there for Google to follow.

If you want to see how such abuse might take place, read RedShifted's post again. He makes it work because he has to work to make it, and I doubt that a lot of people would make the effort. Then imagine what would happen if someone developed a software program that would allow just anyone to plug in a few keywords and start generating videos. How soon would the tactic become worthless, as well as triggering a smackdown from Google/YouTube?

Originally Posted by kimhannah View Post

It might be "unique" but it would also be theft if you did it sans permission of the rights holder.

It might be a lot easier to ask forgiveness than permission, but asking permission is usually a whole lot cheaper...

That is true. Youtube has so many uses. A lot of videos are being published every single day on Youtube which means there is a huge opportunity for smart marketers like us all to utilize this awesome amount of content any way we please. Quite a few of my clients have the video transcribed, so they have the actual video and a transcript of it. A 5-minute video only costs a few bucks to have transcribed and it adds actual written content for those who may not be able to watch a video when they are visiting your site. The bonus is because individuals absorb information differently (some take it in better with reading, while others prefer watching a video), this covers a larger audience. Just a thought....

Of course you can create your own videos. It is not tough at all. However, this strategy I outlined is a different one which uses other people's content (in this case videos) and increases the content on our own website without having to do any of hard stuff. We will still be able to create high quality websites by having tons of informative, engaging and relevant content by using what is already present online. That does not mean, you should not create your own videos. You can do both.

I think you are misunderstanding me. This is not laziness. As you said, we can create our own videos, there is no one stopping us from doing that. I think all of us should create our own videos. This is a different strategy and is about utilizing other people's content. It is also called curation in other words. It has nothing to do with being too lazy for creating your own videos. I hope you get it!

A lot of people use that strategy. Even I use it on one of the blogs. However, picking videos manually is much better strategy as you can choose really informative and high value videos to add to your blog.

For "how to" videos, instead of "transcribing" YT videos, I suggest creating an "index" of the videos.

If someone has a video about creating a kindle book cover using Photoshop, say something like:

1:34 - Use the Photoshop magic wand tool to select pixels of similar color.

This can be helpful for people that have watched the video, but what to revisit certain parts of the video. And you are not simply repeating what is in the video, which could lead to copyright issues.

The technique Anwar suggested isn't just about using videos as an easy way to get content. Probably the biggest benefit is that it gives you something to write about and removes "writer's block", which is often this biggest problem with content creation. In this example, we are writing content about content. Just write about what's in the video.

And since the video is on your pages with your own commentary, now you can promote YOUR page, instead of simply linking to someone else's video. When you come across a question asking "how to create a kindle ebook cover", you can send them to YOUR page, where you have added value and can benefit from the traffic and linking.

This is an awesome post you have made as you have raised some really excellent points. First of all thanks for the suggestion that we can create an index from the video. This really is a super-cool idea which I would definitely try out .It surely will add a lot of value to our post.

Secondly, you are spot on when you say that embedding other people's videos can help in removing our writers block as we will have something useful to talk about. Writing content about content is a very easy way to create content, lol...

Thirdly, your last point is also great. When someone asks a question how to do something, instead of linking directly to the Youtube video on the subject, we can embed it on our site, and link to our site so that we can promote something or offer a freebie in the sidebar or footer etc.

Thanks for these really cool suggestions.
