For those of you operating in the fitness niche, I would like to ask what the top forums in the industry are in terms of traffic and quality of members? Where doing research is worthwhile.

Check out Big Boards forum directory for many others. They list the biggest forums for many niches, including bodybuilding, fitness, training, sports and recreation.

Is that even accurate? I tested it just now typing in "marketing". DP and abakus were the only forums that showed up in results. Then I put in "internet marketing", and, same two were only results shown. WF didn't even show which I think is strange.

Thirding bodybuilding.com forums.

You also might want to look at the comments posted on some fitness sites. A lot of people following trainers' routines will ask them stuff about diet, proper form, etc and can be a gold mine for what's on the public's mind. Try Bodyrock to start.

You can check each url of fitness forum at Alexa.com to measure the traffic ranking.
