Yellow Pages Extinction??

I guess we're goin to miss the yellow pages! I had a friend tell me it doesn't even make sense to run ads in the yellow pages anymore because no one reads them. I think any form of advertising can be effective if done correctly but, its still people out here that don't know that the internet is bypassing every information tool we ever used!

Would anybody miss the yellow pages today?

The Yellow Pages will likely be around for a long time to come.

For one thing, when you search online, you need to know (for the most part) exactly what you're searching for. With the Yellow Pages, you don't need as much information before using it.

Let's say you want pizza and you live in a relatively small town. You can go inline and enter "pizza name-of-town" but the results will be limited. Maybe only 3 or 4 will be found online. Go to the Yellow Pages and you will have dozens of options.

It's all about HOW each medium is used - each has its advantages and disadvantages.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Yellow Pages are the most effective method of advertising (far from it), but it is still vital for certain businesses.

Another point: Not everyone is online as often as we Warriors are. Sometimes it's easier for people to go to the Yellow Pages instead of booting up the computer, going to a search engine, and then sorting through the results.

I could go on, but the main point is that the YP is not facing extinction...quite yet.

    All the best,
    Michael

I just got my brand-new phonebooks from ATT. Big one goes in the office, little one goes in the car, I can't tell you how often that last has saved my bacon while driving around town with, oh, NO NET ACCESS.
