Vague idea for a WSO

Would it be useful to offer a reading service? You give me an Ebook, I charge something like $.50/page, and I read it into a voice recorder, and Email it back to you in podcast format, your choice of male or female voice?


Just a random thought.

    I also like the idea, I'm sure that there are services like that already, but not a WSO

    If you offer a fair price, I'm sure it could go.
    To be hones, I'd be your first customer right away, would be a great bonus and it adds perceived value.
    Also, English isn't my first language, so it'd be great to have a native speaker creating the audio.

    Go for it buddy, this is what makes successful people successful. They try new ideas right away and fail fast till they hit a home run.

      Definitely a great idea. How is your voice? If you voice is pleasant, it would be well worth 50 cents per page. If you voice is versatile (and you have professional recording equipment)...I may be able to use you as one of my voice over people.

    Hi Essence:

    More than a good idea! It could be used as an additional sales item or bonus material.

    You would have potential because the words to voice technology still has a myriad of issues and I don't believe any of the software in the world handles PDF files or non articles.

    I hope this is something you can work out the logistics and make a bundle.

    It could be a great idea providing you have the voice for it together with good recording equipment/skills. Too many people think it's just a case of "reading" but a good voice over artist will know when and how to use their voice inflections to make an outstanding product.

    You might want to try putting a few examples together so people can see your ability.

    Great idea, especially when offering both male and female voices. I could see opportunities immediately where I would want a specific voice.

    I have played around with some of the current software available and, of course, nothing comes close to listening to a real voice - especially in tone, inflection as mentioned and knowing when to pause, stress important points etc. etc.

    Regardless of the number of replies you get to this post, I believe that if you have the skills in your team and sound equipemnt (no pun intended) you would be on to a winner.

    I would definitely love to see this service like everyone else.

    But keep in mind, I'll definitely "NOT" take this service.

    You gotta understand the difference between suggestions and actual upsells when you create these kind of threads.

    I believe a lot of people who replied positively in this thread would never take up your service if you eventually decide to put it live.

    Just a few cents of experience.
