Everything/anything else is secondary to your own website.

I think that if you have a slow, careful read through this thread from a few days ago, including clicking on the links to the other couple of relevant threads mentioned in it, that should provide more or less a complete answer to this question: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...rectories.html

I would start my own article directory!
Why waste your time and effort increasing someone else's site content

If I were advertising an "article directory script" in my own signature-file, as you are, I might even try the same line, hoping nobody realises how spammy and ridiculous a suggestion it is, in this context.

Because doing so is a free-of-charge, quick and painless way to get something extra out of your articles, once you've written, published and syndicated them. You might even learn something helpful from this thread, if you have some time off from the spamming the forum with your sig-file: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

Actually it was a genuine suggestion!
Yes, I coded the scripts in my links but no one is forced to click the links or buy unless they want to.
I manage to sell my scripts without this forum believe it or not!

I thought so: hence my concern, and my worry that the OP might just take it seriously and completely miss the entire point and purpose of putting his articles into an article directory.

The answer to this question is riddled with "it depends".

Experience, at least to me, has dictated that there really are different "types" of articles, not to mention, purposes for those articles.

While Ezine Articles has been at the top of the article directory game for quite some time now, it's growth and evolving hasn't been without its own array of challenges. The simple answer to your question would involve simply seeking out a site like, say, GoArticles, ArticlesBase, etc. Head on over to Google, type in "best article directories" (or, if you don't want to actually type it in, just cut and paste from my post here...lol)....I just did that quickly, and there returned a plethora of results....large scale lists.

Realizing that all these sites are essentially businesses owned by others, the ABSOLUTE best place to publishing your article, IMHO, is really your OWN online property (i.e. your own website). Don't get my wrong. I'm a huge proponent of using sites that you don't actually own, as a small piece of a much larger online strategy, however, the truest answer to your question would be: your own website.

My staff and I stopped using article directories altogether. I think they're done and there are far better ways to promote one's content (i.e. your own blog, your own YT videos, other social media, using viral reports, iTunes, Kindle, viral software, strategic partnerships).

EZA is going down hill fast and if they're the #1 article directory, imagine where the rest of them are?

Is it still a good place for authors to put their articles? Maybe, but it should be the LAST place they put it on, not the first (or even second).

      Exactly Rod!
Most of the tired old article directories that the "old school" dinosaurs bleat on about have seriously had their day!

As I said, the only way forward with article directories is when YOU control what is posted (ie your own). The days of "spamming" with PLR articles is finished.
