Is posting / reading message boards a waste of time?

Do you think if you ceased all message board posting & reading and instead put that time into something else, would it be more productive? Or is the knowledge, business you get from forums more worth your time or a solid part of your business model / learning?

It pretty much is. I would say there's a few posters on WF and other IM forums worth listening to. Lots of newbies try to give advice and they really shouldn't be contributing to the forum in that way. If you listen to a newbie giving advice you're going to get in trouble.

It's definitely worth it (well mostly). The knowledge I've gained and the contacts have made in the Warrior Forum have made me thousands of dollars. The same in true of the main poker forum I'm a member of.

Dave we know each other from another industry

In that industry I built several multi-million dollar businesses, some of which relied heavily on forum marketing.

I think that forums have a place, they help us build a reputation. People get to know you as knowledgeable and reputable, then they trust what you have to offer them.

They also provide a nice place for accountability if you DON'T deliver

My time spent on forums is well worth it. I'm either learning new stuff or driving traffic to my sites

The amount of practical, useful knowledge available at the WF is priceless. There are some genuinely kind and intelligent folks here who freely give of their time and energy to help others succeed like no other marketing forum on the internet.

The real trick, I think, is working your plan as much as you can in any given day, and then giving yourself a reward by visiting the WF.

I love reading postings on forums...I don't spend all day on them but 30 -45 min a day you can make some good contacts and learn a thing or two.

The best thing about forums is that you make friends, business friends. You might be talking to someone on a forum, next thing you know you are doing business making bank.

The problem isn't reading and learning from a forum. The problem for me is sorting it out. Classic example of 80/20 rule. 80% of the stuff I sort through & read is worthless, while 20% provides me with either new information or new ideas.

I do think that posting and reading are pretty a good way to learn.
But of cause, follow the right system before you make your decision.

I've learnt many online marketing in forums, a way to improve yourself if you want to be successful.
And I'm learning it by reading a lot.

It depends on what kind of forum it is, and how much time you're spending on it.

On the Warrior Forum, there are quite some threads which have very good information and reading them won't be a waste of anyone's time but they'll add to your knowledge. On the other hand, if someone is spending his day on a chit-chat forum, it might be a complete waste of one's time.

Forums like WF help you in many ways - sharing experiences, discussing opinions, keeping yourself updated, building relationships that last long... and just fun!

Yes I agree, chit-chat forum as forums to kill time, not learning.

I used to hate forums, but when I learnt that it's the best way to increase your knowledge on internet marketing. I know it's for my good.

U meet different people from all around the world just to share their knowledge, experiences, and it's what we call it interactive and enriching lessons for us.

    Cheers,
