A Question For Article Writing Experts

Hi Warriors,

I do a fair bit of work with articles, first of all posting them onto my own domains so that my sites receive the benefit of the indexing. I then distribute these very same articles word-for-word to a number of article directories so that I then get the benefit of backlinks, link juice and possibly some prospects who may read the articles and visit my site.

I know that this is acceptable and within the duplicate content laws, but my question is this...

If I have a large article (more than 1500 words) on one particular page of my site, am I able to submit this very same article to said directories, but split that large article up into 3 x 500 word articles in readiness for submission to the article directories.

I would also add some additional text to each 'mini' article as way of introduction and summary to each 'mini' article.

So, just in case that doesn't make sense, I have Article 1 on my site, so can I divide Article 1 into 3 chunks (and also put some introductory writing at the top of each 'mini' article) and then submit this to article directories... is this within the laws of duplicate content?

Thanks in advance

Simon

Yes, that is actually a good idea. That way you can direct them to the full length version of the article on your site for more information on the topic.

Duplicate content is a myth. There are no laws. You just need to get links to the articles both on your site and where you post them in the article directories and you will be fine.

The only problem with duplicate content is when the same whole part of text is spread throughout the site, if you are worried about duplicate text then just change the page titles.

I am a blogger with several flagship blogs. Is it a good idea for me to submit my blog articles to article directories? I have not done it for fear of duplicate content penalties.

  • I wouldn´t do it. Not only because oft the duplicate content issue, but also because these article directories may outrank you with your own content.

    • @ Epsilon 97 - Absolutely it is a good idea, because you then get backlinks to your site - which are valuable, possibly THE most valuable aspect of good page rank with the SEs.

As long as you do not have the same CONTENT appear on the same DOMAIN, there is no duplicate content issue.

It is widely regarded that the best way to approach this is 1) Place article on your domain(s) first, to get the SEs indexing your site, and then 2) Put these same articles (word for word) onto article directories, so that you then get back links too.

@ affiliated survivor, I must disagree with you here, there is nothing to lose by doing it this way.

      Thanks

I think you would get a lot more out of the articles if you were to spend a little time and rewrite them before you resubmit. The mini intro is good start.. but go through line by line and do a rewrite.

Your question is theory makes logical sense, but the practical answer is that you will still be hit with the duplicate content rule. Google bots scan text immediately around each word to find similaries that could be duplicate content, so whether you have one large article or three seperate ones you will still get hit with the duplicate content rule. The only way around it is to re write the article for your site and then post the original on article directories.
