Launch Optin Logic question...

I'm going to do a launch where I have a series of 4 free videos on different pages:

1st page = intro video with optin to get more
2nd - 4th = subsequent videos with facebook comment section, but no optin

The pages are released over time via an email to those who optin after watching the 1st video.

My question is this: when people watch videos 2-4 and add a comment which is posted to facebook, their friends who come to investigate that page won't need to optin and I won't capture their email... they can just watch all the videos released to the point...

Is this the way people normally do things... not worrying about capturing emails from people that arrive from facebook directly to the later video 2-4 pages?

    Lance,

If you do it this way, you're losing potential subscribers. I make it a practice to put sign up forms (or at least a link to the sign up form) on everything. Your subscribers won't be put off unless you push the sign-up in their face, so to speak. Nag screens and forced opt-ins are always offensive, IMO, but most people expect to see sign up opportunities on most emails, videos, reports, web pages, etc. If potential subscribers are exposed to anything they haven't seen before (like your follow up videos), they should be given the chance to sign up.

By all means take Lance's advice. You want these people on your list. And no one in this day and age expects to get to view solid content without filling out a basic opt-in form. Think of the # of people who'll view your info without opting in if you don't. People that are interested in your info and could become buyers.

I like he fact that you give the first video to the person for free, and then if they want more they need to optin. If I were you I would use some membership software and have the other videos protected. Give it to the customer for free, but when they sign up they are automatically inserted into your auto responder.

When they view the videos and post comments their friends will be able to go to the videos, but they will get a login screen since the videos are protected. You can then add a link to watch the first video or give the customer the option to create an account right there.
