Have a look at WSO (Warrior Special Offers) subforum, there are quite many products in your niche, some of them include follow-ups as well.

Talk about a problem most bodybuilders have

For example, nutrition and eating plain and boring meals.

Let them know nutrition to build muscle doesn't have to be plain, dull, or boring...

    Introduce anabolic cooking

The very first message that you send to your list which they should get straight away as soon as they opt in is an email with a link to get their free gift.

You could create some emails with some nutrition tips and exercise tips that bodybuilders would find helpful. Do some research to find the information - you could find some quality private label right bodybuilding ebooks that you could use in your own words in your autoresponder sequence.

It is great that you have a blog - you could keep posting content on your bodybuilding blog and email your list with a link to your blog where they can enjoy the content on your site and make comments.

I agree with Nate A about wowing your list with really good content so your subscribers get to know, like and trust you. You want to give your list a good impression. There is no set rules to how often products are promoted to a list, just as long as it is not done too often.

Here is an example you may try:

Send 4 helpful messages spread out over 1 week with good content.
This could be sending people a link to your blog to read, watch or listen your helpful content where they may have the option to share their comments.

After that every fourth message you send could be promoting a high quality product that your subscribers would benefit from.

Solving a specific issue is usually pretty effective for getting optins. In your niche something like:

How to Add 25 lbs to your bench press in 30 days

(or something similar that is doable). Then you could create a series of autoresponders that go out daily or every other day giving workout plans etc.

You could monetize your emails with recommended protein powers or supplements.

Lastly, the personal touch usually works best. It's good to tell your story early on, let people get to know you. You don't have to be a "fitness model", just be yourself. The point is, people are more likely to buy from someone they feel they know.

You really don't have to use your own image, you could use an image of someone who is in good shape, It wouldn't be the first time that was done (look at my image -that's obviously a pic of an underwear model lol).

Seriously, it sounds deceptive but its actually done all the time.

Your Niche is a popular one and you can find a lot of good strategies in WSO Section.

You should look for providing Strategies and Diet Plan that would go in for not more than 2 months .

You can see What things to do ? or what not to do during Diet Plan

If you're looking for specific information on follow-up emails i.e. email marketing, I'd check out products on the WF by Sean Mize. He's somewhat of a legend in that area.

Discuss any issues or problems body builders face or concerned about.
This can be anything from nutrition to buidling muscles or anything else.
Think from their prospective point and you would come up with lots of ideas on what they would like to hear / learn from you.

It sounds like you are motivated to do something.

What you do depends on how patient you are and where you want to take this. The bodybuilding niche is huge.

If you want to build a "personal brand" and develop a real following, then you have to actually know what you are doing in that niche. For example, you should be in shape and look the part. Basically it comes down to 2 things:

        1. You can scrape content, regurgitate info from the fitness gurus and magazines and maybe make some affiliate commissions/adsense/cpa.

        2. You can create a "journey" talk about your workouts, goals, take people on a step-by-step adventure of your progress of. It will be slower, and require patience, but if you can do that, and change your body dramatically, you will develop a loyal following. Those pictures and videos will the serve as inspiration to people for years to come.

As far as how many emails to send? There are no real rules, you have to test it. Obviously, you don't want to bludgeon people with aff links over and over, they'll just unsub. 3-4 pure content emails (they must actually add value to your readers). Honestly though, I would try to completely wow your list with amazing content before you ever try to pitch them. Otherwise, you may not have much of a list for very long.

**I am actually in the industry, so if you would like further assistance, let me know**

You can try looking at amazon. Search for body building books and check out the reviews. They can give you a great idea of what language people in that niche use. If you want to go deeper you can go onto body building forums as well.
