Question for "Full - Time" Marketers

Hi there, I am just starting out in the Internet marketing world, having just completed the Quick Start Challenge. I have found a great mentor in Dean Holland & his team, I have a blog up and running, goals written down, studying times drawn up in advance and I am planning to build my earnings to exceed my salary, so that I can quit my job in six months.
I would like to hear from any experienced "full-time"marketers out there to share what a typical day might be like in their world and could they give an example of one thing that they wouldn't do if they were starting up again.

    There is no typical day. You have to be very disciplined in this business or you can start to get lazy, lose focus etc. It's not for everyone.

    Treat this like a real business. Self-discipline is of grave importance in IM. You will be distracted by a lot of things, that's very natural. Don't let that distractions take all your time. You will try, fail and succeed but always keep moving and stay focused on your goals and the work that you need to do to achieve that goals. Once you find something that works for you, stick to it and keep improving it before trying other things. Focus on one thing at a time and do not jump from idea to idea.

    My typical day involves mostly work because I enjoy it and I don't get bored from it. I just get tired when I work a lot and then I give a break and go out or exercise etc.

    If I was starting again with the vision that I have now, I would not jump from idea to idea like I did when I first started.

        My advice is to not quit your job too soon if your business greatly depends on things that you don't control. Today you could be receiving thousands of organic visitors from the search engines and making really good money. Tomorrow it can all stop instantly, believe me it's happened to a bunch of people. It boils down to not having all of your eggs in one basket.

        It's probably not possible to have complete control but be sure to have as much control as possible. It would suck for your income to come to a complete halt because someone changes their rules, sells their business or does anything else that could have a major negative effect on your income.

        My point is, be sure everything is stable before you allow your livelihood to depend on this business and have a backup plan.

    My typical day.

    I get up.

    I check to see if enough sales are coming in.

    If not enough sales, I get a bucket, put some names in there, draw a name, and someone gets fired randomly.

    (This ensures sales come in at all times).

    For the rest of the day I check in at the Warrior Forum and post extremely useful replies like I just did.

      I make a six figure income from my online business and am currently traveling the world, working from my laptop.

      My normal day I wake up at 7 or 8 am. Walk out my front door and take a dive into the bay of Thailand (I'm currently living on an island in the south of Thailand.

      Most of my day is spent checking/answering emails. Monitoring ad campaigns, writing some blog posts and reaching out to other industry leaders.

      The biggest mistake I made when I started is to pick one method and stick with it until you master it. Doesn't matter which method you pick, lots of them work. Just pick one and stick with it till you have it working. Lots of people fall for the "shiny object syndrome" and never stick with one thing long enough to be successful with it.

      That was my problem when I first started and it wasn't until I picked one business model and went all in that I became successful.

        THE ONLY problem with that lifestyle is what do you do if it's all taken away?

        1) You strive so that it is never taken away but it will change for sure. Learn, adapt, keep at the leading edge.

        2) You save millions of $$$$'s so it doesn't ,matter.

        i've seen people blow millions and 3 years later they are back to square one.

          What would be taken away? I don't rely on google too drive any of traffic and I am constantly creating new offers and at the same time buildings very strong brand.

          Living in SE Asia currently like a king and spending about $50,000-$70,000 a year. When your living on that and bringing in six figures money isn't really much of an issue anymore

    See, the starting point should be:

    What do I want my typical day to look like?

    Then, you go find a mentor who can help you achieve it.

    Do you want to work 10 hours a day or 4 hours a week? Your goals should contain the answer.

    ONE thing I would do if starting over is to have a very clear idea of what my day would be like, then find the fastest way to achieve it.

    PS. Kind of agree with others, your mentor should be able to answer this for you, IF you tell him the kind of day you want.

    Before each day, write out a list of things you want to get done. Put the most important things at the top of your list. I also like to give myself a specific amount of time to get the task done.

    A typical day for me looks like this:

    1. Wake-up at 7:00 A.M.
    2. Workout for 45 minutes
    3. Read for 30 minutes on a topic related to my niche
    4. Content Creation for 2 hours.
    5. Traffic Generation for 2 hours.
    6. Any other tasks I need to do such as checking emails, sending out a broadcast for however long it takes.
    7. Done for the day.

    Not every day looks like that, but most of the time it looks something like that. You should definitely create a plan of action that fits your current situation and stick with it for at least 30 days and you'll be surprised at how much work you've gotten done.

      some real tips here.

      make a time table and divide it into weeks.

      See the results , rinse and repeate.

      Choose your niche carefuly, go for low competition, long tail keywords with local searches.
      the killer related content, and traffic generation will do the job.

      do not be confuse yourself with too much information, all you need is a start...

    The thing I wouldn't do again starting over is trying to make something work that is obviously not going to work. In other words, I would concentrate on only selling what people are buying already instead of trying to force them into wanting something new. "Unique" doesn't need to mean "never seen before" but rather "never seen before exactly like this" to sell.

    number one rule sof business...sell what people are willing to pay for.

    Here is what my day looks like

    1. Wake up whenever I feel like eat a nice fruit filled breakfast ( I still consider it breakfast even if I happen to wake up past noon that day.

    2. Read my goals and affirmations out loud visualize feel gratitude and all the other hippy attraction stuff

    3. check my leads and traffic and see if I need to pay my brokers for more traffic

    4. Write some new emails for my funnels

    5. write some sales copy and work on my offers/ see if there are any new affiliate offers I want to promote

    6. answer emails

    7. study and learn

    8. Call it a day

    it sounds like a lot, but it only works out to a few hours a day

    Every weekend I sit down and update my "weekly spreadsheet," which is a Sunday through Saturday checklist of all of my daily/weekly tasks. I don't necessarily do each thing on the list daily, but the ones that are mandatory are highlighted in a certain color, based on importance. The checklist spreadsheet gives me a great visual of what I did the day before and what I should maybe focus on first the following day.

    No two days are the same, though. You need to set daily/weekly minimum/maximum goals and focus until you meet them.

    Be firm with yourself, and with those around you. Others will think you have a ton of spare time if you are working from home full-time. You don't. Don't get sucked in. Yes, this type of work offers flexibility, but you should set some general "work hours" for yourself as you are getting started.

    My working day is not typical but it is always PLANNED. I stick to a plan like it is the most important thing. I trained myself to love planning. I have a year plan, a quarter plan and a daily plan
    I review the daily plan daily and adjust the quarter and year plan monthly

    I limit my working day - or it never ends

    The main thing I focus every day - is to make sales. No matter what is going on, no reason to have even one single day without sales. I have plan for each day sales amount and I rich this goal almost always

    My mistake at the beginning was to set goals which are not related to business. Like "build a site" "create a product". When I switched to the business oriented goals like "Make 12,000 a year with a new product" all my approach has changed, I stopped create useless products - no matter how interesting for me they were, and started create products people are willing to pay for....

      This is an interesting question. I think many here, partake in a passive income route. so the routine is minimal. I am a more hands on type that has developed a community, I actually have hours that I can be contacted, be it from my site or on social media.

      An interesting thing to do with your time... Find like minded sites that have blogs. Post replies on these blogs. 5 times a day every day can produce 1825 backlinks in a year.

    I don't have a fixed routine but one thing's for sure : I wake up every morning and go to bed every night feeling absolutely enthralled, because running a business is very rewarding

    Other than that the things I focus on are product creation, customer service and driving traffic. Customer service is exhausting though. Perhaps if you could let me know what you're having problems with I could send you some resources

    The thing that I wouldn't do if I started again is to try to learn everything and learn the things that matter the most, i.e. traffic and conversions.

    Self discipline and motivation is key.

    There's no one to tell you what to do and when to do it and no one to get mad if you're not pulling your weight.

    You have to treat it like a business and work harder on it than you've ever worked before otherwise it won't work out for you.

    Make sure you have a daily routine that you work though and stick to it no matter what.

    I once read on Think Traffic about how a pro athlete wouldn't not train because he was tired / sick / hungover / feeling lazy and unless you're taking your business as serious as a pro athlete takes his training program you're not going to succeed.

    Sounds like a fantastic business. What exactly are you selling though? Can only be affiliate marketing or drugs.

    Like many others have already said. Creating an action plan is a start. Just be aware that everyday isnt going to be the same and without a boss over your shoulder you can tend to lose sight on your tasks and slack off.

    Once you realize you've been slacking off quickly go back over your goals you have set to whip yourself back into shape and get you on task. Your goals should be set where they motivate you and keep a fire lit within you. Going over your goals again if you slip will be a quick and refreshing way to get yourself back together on those off days.

    Another tip Ill say, is once you've gon Full Time get yourself a Virtual Assistant and delegate some tasks to free yourself up to learn and try new things that can expand and grow your business.

    I've found that to-do lists don't really work well in my case. Instead, I plan to do one major thing every day - whether it's launch a new website, write a new sales letter (I'm a web designer and copywriter, so doing these things is easy for me), make an irresistible offer for my list, etc.

    Of course, I usually get more done than just that "one thing", but it makes every day an accomplishment, and a step forward to reaching greater and greater dreams. And if you get more done than just your "one thing", then look how much further you are!
