This WarriorForum behaviour shocked me

I looked at my stats and noticed that about 130 people had viewed my profile page. That's about 1 in 12 people who visit any of my threads/posts.

I was shocked that it would be such a high number. I have not looked at a profile page yet.

Why would people visit profile pages?

What benefit if any would I get by visiting other profile pages?

What can we do on our profile pages that would make people feel more comfortable to buy from us if we are selling things?

I remember: Someone here with 10,000+ posts once told me... you have to give before you receive. Give back a bit more to this forum before you ask for any sale and you will do well. What comes to mind is give something viable away for FREE in your profile for a while then put a small price on it down the road

Word of mouth does well here if you are giving back... Just a thought.

*** Anyone care to guess who that person with 10,000+ posts was?

Is he the subject of a temporary ban? If so, I know who it is Yes, a lot of people look at my profile. Also, over at EZA, I get TONS of profile views.

You can put your main website that has portfolio / good customer testimony. People usualy wants to check your credibility before buying anything from you.

I check the profile to see what the occupation is. This way I can see if they have listed anything of value to me that I might be able to use. Then I can pm them with an offer or contract for services. It helps narrow the field a bit when I am thinking of doing business with a Warrior, is all.

I was shocked that people looked at profiles as I didn't. I suppose a better word to use was surprised.

Thanks for all the replies - seems like I'm in a very small minority.

A couple of people have assumed that I thought it was something I was worried about. I am not.

I suppose that's with using shocked which can have negative feelings associated with it. I actually meant to use shocked just to mean very surprised.

To try and summarize what I have learn from the replies is this: people use it to get to know more about you and to see if you can be trusted if they are thinking of doing business with you.

For people who are interested I've had 50 more views in the last 20 hours.

I just recently found the blogs and user groups(this site has freaking everything!) as well as a few other profile features. Now I usually go and check up on other Warriors because I'm nosy.

    I look.

    #1 I'm nosy

    #2 see #1 (j/k)

Seriously, I look - especially if the poster had something good to say - I go look up their website URL, I also look to see what other posts they've made to see if I can get more out of it, and I might PM them and say it was a great post or something.

Forgetting about profiles for the minute - you need to get a headshot up if you want to improve your credibility and get noticed. And yeah...I check out profiles all the time. Oh BTW don't use a blond wig in your headshot - you'll just look like an idiot. Mal.

People will visit it to find out more about you, check your latest tweets, send you a PM, check out your other posts if they hate or love what you post, see if you are a troll or a spammer, stalk you, or to check out who has accepted you as friends on this forum.

Why do I look at someone's profile?

    There are several reasons..

    1. To see if they have real contact information
    2. To look at their post history
    3. To check if they been given any infractions
    4. To send them a PM
    5. To evaluate if I'm willing to do business with them
    6. To check out feedback from others in visitor messages
    7. To review their Warrior blog

Mostly #2 to see if it's just a single one line post or if they
are on a mission to get to 30 posts in a short period of time.

I've no idea why over 4,000 people have visited my profile.

I look at profiles to rate credibility and posts. Paul Myers, John Taylor, Josh Anderson, Martin Luxton have asnwered a lot of my questions by just viewing their threads.

I did a researched and noticed that profiles with photos of pleasant looking ladies had way more profile visits then with men or those with no photos.

Personally, if I post my photo, my rating would go down...I was blessed with a double cleft lip and pallette. However after over 12 surgeries I am able to go on...I even got married to a beautiful lady and have 2 little girls that don't have birth defects. (maybe I should post their photos;-)

When I joined the WF I used to look at profile pages ... a lot! When I first started here I was looking for mentors. If you posted something useful or interesting I went to find your other posts to see if there were other gems that you've shared before. No big deal, nothing to be shocked about.

I usually like to check out profiles of people who I feel I can learn alot from, and that's coming from their posts I've read. Being a newbie aswell I am trying to find a mentor so viewing the profile is a way of doing that. I also view people who are from the same country and state as me so maybe I can build a relationship with them (1 on 1 meetings) to try and make it in the online business world. To be honest I also just look if the female is hot..lol..nothing wrong with that is there??? hahaha

I think it might be the same reason you might click on someones facebook or myspace profile you don't know. You see a funny or witty comment left on your friends page and you wonder how this person is like. Just like when you see a helpful reply here you wonder how they are like....or if they have more helpful information.
