Positive Talk and Positive Affirmations

In a posting I made to answer the thread "Scared of Success!!!", I was talking about the fact that fear is just an emotion, the same as love, hate, embarrassment, or many others. Fear can not hurt you, although it can stop you in your tracks before you even get started. I recommend reading this thread and all of the answers that go along with it. Knowing you are afraid of something is the first part of dealing with it. The next part is knowing you can make a change and have the ammunition to move past your fear and in this case go out and Succeed. You must know in your heart that you not only deserve success, it is your birthright.

I have been using a set of affirmations/declarations to help me get my mind, body and spirit in tune to continue my road to success and beyond.

I must give credit where credit is due when it comes to these Declarations. Many of these affirmations have come from T. Harv Eker as wall as many others I have had the pleasure to learn from in my life.

I make these declarations every morning and every evening. I do them when I am in the bathroom getting ready for work each morning and when I brush my teeth each night. They have made a difference in my life and I hope you will use these and have the same success I have.

Declarations/Affirmations

My Inner world creates my outer world.

What I have heard about money is not necessarily true. I choose to adopt new ways of thinking that support my happiness and success.

I choose my own way of modeling my feeling about money.

I release my non supportive money experiences from the past and create a new and rich future.

I observe my thoughts and entertain only these that empower me.

I create the exact level of my financial success

I think big! I choose to help thousands and thousands of people.

I promote my value to others with passion and enthusiasm.

I am an excellent receiver. I am open and willing to receive massive amounts of success into my life.

I always think "both".

I am committed to constantly learning and growing.

Most of these declarations have to do with success and money. This is becuase I wanted it to go along with the thread of being afraid of success. Many people think success = money. I don't necessarily subscribe to this thinking althoug having enough money allow one to help even more people.

Remember Success breads success.... Also success always leaves clues. My suggestion... find someone who has or is successful at what you want to do and then do what they do.

Have a great evening, and continue success to all.

    Hello Thom,

Thanks for starting this thread on positive affirmations,i have also read on the positive affirmations and i am told that they work.i tried applying it for few weeks but gave up after they did not show up any tangible results. So how long did you try before you start to see results? And one thing more i read that with each affirmation you need to attach a time frame.

How quickly results come depends on several factors, mostly related to your current belief system. The core principle behind affirmations is that they are used to shift your inner beliefs, which in turn shift your outer reality.

There are several pathways for this change to come into your life, the easiest to understand is that you will begin to make different decisions and take different actions based on what you believe to be true. This is the pathway that even the most pragmatic can understand. Beyond this, though, there is substantial evidence that shows how physical reality can literally reflect your inner beliefs back to you.

One reason many people fail when using affirmations or other mind programming technique is because they focus on a minor surface belief and pay no attention to the deeper, more powerful, beliefs that support it. It does no good to affirm, "I am making all the money I need and want" if you also believe that everything goes wrong in your life.

As Thom indicates in his list, "My Inner world creates my outer world." is the 1st belief to create within yourself. Without this belief, anything you do to change your inner world will have to do a lot more work before it is "authorized" by your belief system to make a change in your outer world.

    Thom great subject!

I also use affirmations every morning and evening. I use to do them in the morning while getting ready and in the evening before bed as well- until I learned that using affirmations during meditation or right after was more effective.

The reason it is more effective during or after meditation because your mind is relaxed and focused- more susceptible to turning the affirmation into a belief- which is the ultimate goal of using affirmations. Once the affirmation is turned into a solid belief your actions will be more directed toward obtaining your goal.

And I absolutely agree having more money does allow one to help more people- although many people sadly forget that once they get the money...

      LDYAMBITION,

I totally agree with you about meditation. I start every morning using a process I learned called Manifesting. When I first wake up in the morning I put my Ipod on and go through a directed process that helps me manifest what I want out of life. It really has helped. My next goal is to be able to do this manifesting more than once a day. I am trying to get into a habit of doing it before bedtime.

It just goes to show no matter how much we learn and grow there is always learning and growing to be done. I believe in the adage: If we are not learning and growing, we are dieing. I vow to learn something new everyday.

      clubvikram,

I have been doing these types of affirmations for quite a while now. You are right, things do not happen overnight. It takes time and practice. First you have to get comfortable with doing something most people would think is dumb. When I do the set of Declarations I wrote about here, I put my hand over my heart and say them out loud. Let me tell you the first time I did that I felt like an idiot, even though I was in the quiet of my own bathroom. Then after doing them more and more I started to actually believe them. Once you believe in them and know you are allowed to have all you want in life, things start to happen much more quickly.

I would venture to say that you were probably closer than you realize to seeing positive results out of the work you were doing. Most people quit right before big things happen. It is our internal voice making sure we believe.

Sorry about that.. to get back to your question, I started seeing results in my attitudes and my thinking withing the first month, from there things really started changing in a way that I did not realize there were changes until I looked back over time.

I would highly suggest - Do affirmations, look at yourself as you do them and make them real to you. No matter what you use for affirmations make sure they are in a positive note. Do use "I want to quit smoking", your mind does not understand "I want to quit" and "I want to", all it hears if "I want to smoke". Use positive statements, "I am living a health lifestyle and will live a very long and prosperous life". Also remember affirmations work best when they are in the present tense. Again.. I want.. does not work... I am... works.

      Hope this helps..

If you would like to know more about the manifesting I am using please let me know and I will write about it.

Have a great day, be positive and know you deserve all the good things life has to offer.

This is a great thread with great advice. Affirmations make a huge positive difference in our state of mind and our ability to progress. I use them, however, I pick any part of the day when I have a little time to not only recite affirmations but to also give thanks to a higher authority. Affirmations, spoken regularly, can have profound affects on the power of our minds and lead to the results we seek.

I also agree with the posts regarding mediation, it is a marvelous stress reliever. I first became involved with meditation as a martial arts competitor to increase, peace, focus, and deal with physical pain.

Affirmations are essentially positive self-talk and we desperately need them to overcome the negative input our minds are exposed to daily. Our subconscious is very powerful and we can use affirmations to reprogram it for positive results.

Affirmations can even affect our physical body. I enjoy sport powerlifting and positive self-talk has resulted in an improved physical response enabling me to lift heavier.

      Once again,

Thank you to all who have continued this thread.

      AlanT,

Great post. I agree with all you have to say. We have to change the inner world and our outer world has to follow suit. We can get into the conscious and sub-conscious mind and how they work to either help us or hurt us, although to see the positive results from affirmations you really do not need this information. I like to say you don't have to know how electricity works to turn on a light. You just flip the switch and it works.

Affirmations are the same thing. Our Outer world is an extension of our Inner World. If we believe (and I mean really believe) changes come fast. That is the difficult part. We think with our head and we figure we have it, my question is "if you wake up at 3:00 in the morning what are you beliefs at that time?" this will tell you what you truly believe.

When this started changing, I knew the affirmations were working.

To everyone remember.. We are a work in progress, We live, we learn and we grow everyday, I struggle with things everyday, I work on being a better me everyday.

Hang in there and keep up those affirmations.. Things will change. However old you are, it took you this long to learn the patterns to make you who you are today. Give yourself some time and a break, I guarantee if you do these types of things everyday, you will look back and see the new path you have chosen and how far along that path you have come.

      To your success

The reason why I believe affirmations work, and have worked for me over and over, is because the universe manifests whatever we think about the most.

But it does not distinguish between negatives or positives. For example if you constantly think, I dont want to be in debt - you are focusing on being in debt. So you will attract more debt.

If you use affirmations such as, I want to be wealthy instead, you are focusing on being wealthy, and so you will attract things that will help you become wealthy.

    Hope that helps

    Alan T and Thom,

Very helpful replies indeed,This weekend i am again going to review and update the positive affirmations that i earlier wrote and start practicing them.I have been reading Chicken Soup for soul, there they have mentioned effective creative visualization techniques which are used by champion athletes and successful professionals.I am going to couple those positive affirmations with those visualization techniques.I will then update you guys about my experiences few weeks from now.

      Club,

Thanks for the reply.. Visualization is a great tool. Olympic athletes use visualization to help them win. They visualize themselves winning the race, they not only see it in their minds eye the feel the feeling of winning. If it works for athletes it will work for us.

I am glad to hear you are updating those affirmations, this is another important aspect of how they work. We have to change them and update them from time to time.

It is a lot like exercise if you do the same exercise over and over you hit a plateau and your muscles will not grow. You have to use muscle confusion to get maximum results out of training. I believe the same thing works for our brains. Changing a few words or changing the affirmations will make both the conscience and sub-conscience mind re-think re-apply and re-confirm the message we are trying to put in our brains.

Have a great weekend and please let me know how things work out.

      To you success.

I don't use Affirmations too much. Instead, I try to constantly educate myself about ways to create the life/reality I want.

Truth be known, affirmations are just a tool to change your belief system. I find that through educating myself about Money, Law of attraction, Positive thinking and anything else that fits into the reality I am trying to create, much more comfortable for me than just repeating "feel good" statements.

Once I get a good grasp about a certain concept though, I do find that I remind myself that "I create my reality"; which often takes me to saying affirmations without even thinking about it. I kind of trick myself that way. But It Works!

    Hi Thom,

The nice thing about affirmations, especially when you speak them out loud, is that you prevent other thoughts coming into your mind.

We can only think one thought at a time and this is what I do when I fell like having a negative thought - I simply voice out a positive affirmation and it stops the negative thought dead in it's tracks.

    Failing that I sing! haha

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and I was also a student of T. Harv and I thought he was brilliant.

Helped me a lot. I recommend getting personal coaches in your life to everyone.
