You Can't Avoid, You Can Only Choose Your Problems

Am I the only one to feel this way? No matter how hard you try there will always be a few problems to trouble your mind. The way I see it, you will never reach a point to be totally problems free. At least this is what has been happening to me. When I have enough work to do, then I have problems with my blood pressure and health. When I have enough time and willingness to take long walks and take care about the quantity of food I consume, then I'm having difficulties finding enough work to do. At the rare moments when I have a respectable number of clients and the optimal health, my wife jumps in to spoil the mood. Sometimes it's my fault, sometimes it isn't. You just can't have it all, can you?

What was that magical word? It's called equilibrium. For me, this is a synonym that everything is OK and that all things are in balance in both your private and professional life. Yet, having in mind that this isn't going to happen, I have to come up with some alternatives. One of them is to accept, or at least convince myself that you simply can't avoid all of your problems. You can only choose the ones you have to accept and live with. It's like a closed private market of your own problems. This month I will trade my personal for my business problems. Or, a month or two from now, I will trade the problems I have chosen for the ones associated with my health. And so on and on.

I would like to end this vicious circle, that's for sure, but I simply don't know how. In case you have been wondering, I have tried it all. I used to make long lists of my problems and set the top priorities. It's all the same. These lists seem never to reach the end. I eliminate a problem or two, the next thing you know, a few more of them jump into the list. Then, I tried to ignore all of these problems. No use, there will always be a painful reminder to convince me they are still around waiting patiently for me.

So, here I am. I keep repeating to myself. You can never avoid problems, you can only choose your problems. This has become some kind of a mantra for me. You know the magic word or phrase you keep repeating when meditating to calm yourself down and feel better. Does it work? Well, I don't know. The problems are still here breathing down my neck, but at least I feel a little better. Maybe I need to come up with another phrase. The things you can resolve, you have to try to embrace and love. What's your situation? How do you manage your problems? Can you avoid them? Can you solve them all? Can you choose them like I do?

For me, life is about jumping over that obstacle and going to the next one (solving problems) and the bigger the problem you solve, the more successful you will be in life. Maybe life would be bored if we didn't have those obstacles. But it is like you say, you fix a problem and the next thing you know 2 more show up. Now, I just see them as a challenge, I know that problem is there because when I get rid of it I will be a better person.
