Quit your bitching and youll be more productive.

I re-learnt this valuable lesson in the past week or so. I was having a bit of a slump and a few people on here pulled me up (you know who you are) and I really appreciate the kick in the butt.

I was basically Oscar the Grouch in human form and I think it was starting to affect business slightly.

Clearing my negativity has made me far more productive and allows me to focus on the job at hand and not on the things that dont affect the project such as personality clashes and unrealistic demands.

Im stepping back a little and rebooting myself to a degree.

Im going to focus on time management.

Ensure I take the breaks I need to keep focused and not cranky.

I am going to set realistic micro goals - not great lofty ones that will make me stressed when I dont achieve them.

I am going to ensure I have digital task lists set up.

I will spend 80% of my work time doing billed worked.

I will trust people enough to delegate.

Hopefully I will be a fresher and less cranky person soon.

Ill keep you posted.

Anyone else doing the same? We could start a movement.

  • Complaining and bitching are both habits which are ultimately not helpful, amen.

    • Agreed - so much more to do than bitching - it takes up a lot of energy.
  • I love a bitch like the next person but it doesn't do me any favours when I am working - it sucks the life out of things and using that sort of energy is wasted and I can do better.

I'd say quitting your bitching is the right move - good luck with it.

    • It's not going to be easy, don't get me wrong. I just need to channel my negativity and focus on positivity as the negative stuff and bitchiness takes up time and if a client annoys me or rubs me the wrong way I just need to be professional and get on with it.

It's really easy to take things personally, but it's all business and I'm here to get results for my clients not to win friends and manage the way they engage with me.
    • Hahaha, I agree. Life's all about "quitting your bitching" and getting down to business. On the other hand, so it's so human to bitch about everything that we'd like to have but we don't...

  • Great thread, indeed. Straight to the point. Maybe, the toughest part is admitting yourself you are in the bitching zone, lol. Sometimes, you are yourself worst enemy. So, fixing it is the first positive thing you can do. Now, it would be great if you could work on your movement a little bit more, lol. Like some kind of anti-bitching therapy, lol. Thx. Cheers!

  • Check out this free audio on "Eat that Frog" https://soundcloud.com/user-801098522. It has useful tips on time management. We can't really do it all.
“...you cannot eat every tadpole and frog in the pond, but you can eat the biggest and ugliest one, and that will be enough, at least for the time being."

  • Way the go,
    keep on going,
    Keep on pushing yourself
    to the limit and more.

    It's challenging, but when
you are focused on what you
want to achieve an act you can get far.

  • Both the things always creates problem in time management and in employee relationship. Both the things is very important to become a successful person.

  • complaining and bitching can point out a problem that needs to be taken care of ..

thats the key..if you complain .. get in the habit of looking for a solution once you make the complaint ..and really if you can't do anything about it.. stop complaining about it ..

    • Good point.

Some people just like drama - we all probably know people like that. They go from one issue to the next and always have a dramatic story to go with their news.

Honestly, I think it's healthy to have a vent especially to a family member or colleague now and again but regularly doing this will just eat you up and you'll start spending way too much time focusing on the negative and not the positives.

I think your idea of having solutions is a good one. It's the way forward and allows you to stop focusing on negative so much and more on the positives.

  • I too bitched for an year of I am not able to start it off. Finally started off with a great bang in Loss of over $1.5K. But I am happy. Atleast I am learning something and that learning is my earning right now.

  • I hate bitching but sometimes you have to complaint sometimes, you can't do anything about that.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • well it ain't going to go away. there is always something more to learn and develop in ourselves.
I laugh at myself everytime i get over a few days of feeling not productive enough,
and this cycle repeats itself. Laugher and meditation is my best comments,
You are thinking Bro, that is something most people have not developed yet.
I like what Abraham Hicks says: Shift into a happier thought, the manifestations come faster then

    • Thanks man,

I've wasted so much time bitching and carrying on when I should just be working at my desk and being productive. It sucks the life out of you and while I'm sitting around having a whinge, I could be doing work or making money. Makes more sense to me to quit bitching.

Laughter is the best medicine as they always say - it's easy to take ourselves too seriously so always a good reminder.
  • I have found that evoking negative energy does nothing good... it simply attracts more negative circumstances into life. There is so much to be said about positive words and thoughts. What did the beatles say? " all we need is love"... self love is the key.
  • When a problem arises, deal with it instead of complaining. You'll be surprised at what can happen if you do it enough times.

    • Its really easy to complain and not step up and take action to solve your issues
  • I tip my hat off to you in doing a motivational post that is shorter than War and Piece.

Yes, same in AU, endless murder mysterys, usually repeats, and endless cooking programs, usually by some git that is passionate about it.

I am passionate about screaming into the night if l have to watch some twat crapping on about being passionate, about boring us to tears.

    Rant over.

Unfortunately watching it online, isn't much better, you still get insanely loud ad, which are usually HD so they take forever to f***off, and they play the same ones, til the screaming idea is more favorable.

Most of the time l watch DVD's or find other ways around advertising.

  • Great comments. I work full time in an industry wrought with negativity and contacting people at their lowest possible points. I found that reading comments like yours bring me back to center.
  • It's a great idea to break things down into bite-size pieces to stop getting overwhelmed. Thank you.
  • Focused mind, focused time, focused success.
  • Agreed with the post.
Complaining only shows the incompetence, laziness, ungratefulness and negative state of mind of an individual.

Only those who are willing to spend their time without any practical work and only talking and gossiping can be put in the list of such category.
  • Whenever I tend to be negative, I always remember this quote.
"My life didn't please me, so I created my life." - Coco Chanel
    Thanks for the great article!

  • Really needed to hear this right now, going through stressful times but complaining will do nothing to fix it.
