Love It! Bottom line is that no matter where the information comes from,
YOU are in charge of your own discipline. Books and mentors can do
no more than give someone information.

I'm a fan of "Think And Grow Rich."

My favourite lesson from the book is the sharecrop Girl asking for her 50c. When your goal/passion/etc. is that important -- that you're even willing to risk your own "security" (etc.) -- you're almost certain to succeed.

there is no such thing as common sense ..the only sense that is common is nonsense .it was a shock to the entire Galaxy we hav't destroyed ourselves by now like the predictions over the last 25oo years said we would ..

the fact that you and everyone you know who is still alive is still alive..freaking miracle ..

in the effort to keep people safe from themselves ..you have to explain on the side of a cup of coffee or hot chocolate..that it is hot and can cause burns .

the education system at least in the USA is designed to produce people who don't know much outside of a narrow range of knowledge ..so they earn money doing that ..then they pay someone else to do the things they do not know how to do .. like cook most food ..and if mommy and daddy didn't know how to do it..chances are the kiddies are clueless as well.

if to many people suddenly learn how to cook healthy food that tastes good from scratch that helps them lose weight .. about a dozen industries would crumbly and the economy would crash ..

for the economy we have at least in the Usa to function you need a lot of people lacking basic survivavl skills ..or basic knowledge.. or you have the government pass regulations that make things much more difficult so you need people with the skills to fill out useless paperwork ..

sorry to keep ranting but i will pick on the premis of this thread.. and the whole idea of learning self disciple from a book ..

if you bought the book.. read the whole book and did many of the exercises ..there is a huge change you had a lot of self discipling to begin with and didn't need the book .. haha

because the game to play is really only 10 years old right now.. the game of the rat race it the old game that is falling appart .. and the non elites who fancied themselves as elites are panicking and freaking out ..

Nature has also had a few million years, in relation to our really using our minds, or 5000 years.

So all of the mysterys of the universe, are put to practical use, somewhere on our planet in nature.

We just have to put our rat mentality and rose colored glasses aside.

Gotta figure we all exist at the clifface/summit of our own predicament/solution.

This kinda means 3 things.

1) Someone else's solution or method ain't necessarily right for us.
2) Someone else's solution/method ... even if applied ... ain't necessarily the whole story.
3) Someone else's solution or method most likely wasn't the whole story behind said somebody's rise to Wonderhood anyways.

So perhaps the self-discipline lies in figurin' out what a uniquely demandin' & potentially transformational critterya are an' fittin' together all kindsa stuff solves your indiviyool problem.

Seriously though good point Claude. For me (and other People?) discipline has been like a muscle in the sense the more you work it, the stronger it becomes.

Google has developed a computer that self learns, or it plays against itself to learn Chess, etc.

So far it has exceeded humans in some games, and quite ironically iti s called Deep Think, (thankfully not Colussus, or Skynet).

But this is a mainframe or it fills a room, or probably a skyscreaper, so it will be some time before we can get that down to a mobile device.

I havn't heard of any major breakthroughs in atomic scale transistors, as yet, but it will probably be decades.

I am personally waiting for Princess Lea, type holographic phones myself, which we should have in the next 5 years.

Or a hologram is projected above the phone, and you can also touch and interact with it, (we can do that now, but it requires serious amounts of power).

Self driving will be cool for the short term, but when the tech, ages, and changes hands a few times, then they will become death traps.

I expect that it will get so bad, gov, in the year 2030, will pass legislation forcing owners to update it all or get rid of it?

When sensors or the main computer ages then it malfunctions or gets confused, and when the sensors get dirty, on top of aging tech, then you become a liability to everyone.

What happens when you are driving up your driveway, or your computer is, (while you are asleep) and it mistakes your 5 year old with a mirror glistening in the sun, as a puddle of water, and drives over it?

Or in the recent case mistakes a turning truck as the sky, and plougs through it.

Or mistakes a road sign, (of the sky or a road) as the real thing,and drives you off a cliff?

The self well theme will continue, what with MMGW getting slammed, by nutters that have turned face, and coal getting a second wind in the US.

As l said before sanity and common sense are overcoming stupidity and believing in anything, because you have to, not because it is true!

The future is a lot more positive now.

Ok, Princess, l will but not before saying that there is a marked difference between being in denial about MMGW, and not.

Someone in denial will ignore hard evidence, or distort it so it doesn't look like hard evidence or forgets about it, or attacks the poster or nitpicks one mistake, etc, (l know all of the psychotic tricks).

But the facts remain.

An example is ESA, or the NOAA site.

I have gone through the numbers there, (land, sea US temps) since records began, (around 1880) and the are the opposite of what Mass Media keeps bleating about.

They say last year was the hottest, and the last three years of temp,s going up prove impending doom, it doesn't.

2012 was the hottest, (l went through the data three times to be sure) and the last three years is statistically meaningless, (temp, have gone up and down for 1 to 3 years since records began)

1932 was the only time that temp, went up for 4 years in a row, but we didn't have the pigs in troughs convention we have now.

And the ONLY indication of impending doom is world temp,s occurring more in the 1.00 temp, range in the last 50 years, than the previous 70, that had more .97 - .98's.

So going by this, l would say that it is possible that we have affected world temp, but only by a jokingly small number of .1 or .2% every 5 years or so, (but sun activity and other factors may also be the cause).


So, no l am not in denial, l study raw data, and base my views on that, others seem to base their views on science shows about MMGW, (there is a good one with the actor that plays Spock, about MMGC in the 1970's on Youtube, that was 100% wrong) and columnists with no idea, parroting doom and gloom predictions in the Enquirer.


No MMGW is a train wreck in slow motion that has well and truly gone off the cliff, most are standing on the edge, shaking their heads in disbelief, and the rest will stay with the train no matter what, even the rocks at the bottom of the cliff, won't sway them.

Mass Media finally getting off the train, or a good shrink are about the only ways left, to leave
