I started to pay attention to my own feelings and emotions and discovered that sometimes I experienced certain emotions for seemingly no reason... at least none that I was aware of.
These were emotions such as pleasure, joy, happiness, sadness, excitement, fear, etc. When I focused on the experience and the reason why I was feeling the emotion at that particular time, I discovered that most of these emotional experiences were triggered by something, like music, photographs, moving moments in a film, other people, etc.
I also discovered that things that elicited a strong emotion in me were not always as powerful for others. It seems that my emotional reactions are quite personal.
But, I also learned that I could 'use' these triggers/emotions as a leverage or tool to create a special feeling... such as softly playing a certain background sound or certain music that relaxed me and created a special mood... like a creative or inspirational feeling.
I agree that most reactions and resulting emotions are normal, like a near miss car accident causing fear or panic and then relief when the accident didn't happen. But what if you reacted without fear or panic... what if you experienced a feeling of joy or happiness, or even peace in that situation? I've noticed that some emotions seemed 'wrong' and out of place at the time.
I think that most emotions are normal, but what I'm talking about here is a 'stronger' emotion than usual... one that seems to be 'special' or 'different'.
There is something there! No doubt. But, it's fleeting and hard to pinpoint. I know one thing for sure; I want to know more.
Without getting into any kind of professional discussion, has anyone made similar observations or had personal experiences like mine? Can you offer an insight or comment on the Emotions as a language and any personal gain as a result?
