Is it better to get something worthwhile done using deception than to fail to get something worthwhile done using truth?

Come on guys, what are your thoughts about this?

In the end...truth prevails. Deception will only get you so far. It may yield short term gains but in the end you destroy your lifetime results and credibility. The name of the game in business is trust. People support or buy from people they trust. It's all about relationship. So if you destroy that relationship, then you've just stopped the channel of money coming to you from your customers.

I've learned that the foundation of anything is what's most important. If your foundation is weak, then the structure you've initially built will fall.

The key word here is "worthwhile."

Without that, the argument is moot.
Once you have that in the mix, you now must define worthwhile.

Many events in history were for the good of mankind and they
      were highly deceptive.

I am old enough to remember stories of deceptive practices to
smuggle people through Check Point Charlie, from East Berlin
      to freedom.

Many Jews were save during WWII by deception.

      You must define worthwhile.

      Sometimes the truth does hurt.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

It's an interesting question. But you have to think about your morals and ethics.

You can make a lot of money and really provide for your family by...selling drugs (deceptive)

        or

work hard on something you believe in that is honest and ethical and fail miserably until you finally succeed.

I'll take the ethical route every time.

        Good topic though.

A lot of black hat marketers got wealthy using deceptive methods too. For crying out loud, a New York Times best seller (the 4 Hour Work Week) teaches how to deceive to get what you want.

It's just never alright to be a liar straight out the gate.

        Just my two cents.

        Peace,

        Shane

What about some big-time IM gurus who started the dishonest and spammy/scamming way, but after making tons of money, decided to become honest now and helping thousands of people in a positive, ethical, honest, and harmonious way now?

They admitted their mistakes and move on...

We usually watch movies or any television drama series. And we all know that the good people in the story are usually succeed in life. So let's just make it as an example.

It's really a good feelings when you know you've succeeded because you know you've doing your job in a right way without violating the rules of the law and God.

Integrity is the most important--and most commonly shared--character trait of the truly successful.
Without Integrity, one's Vision is faulty, so one's goals are misguided, and even "success" in the venture fails to enrich life and increase peace.

I believe in Karma. If you don't,
you will when it affects you

Do good deeds and the universe
will reward you with its abundance.

Deception is the old way, man. Transparency and honesty is where it's at. If you can't make a living with that in what you are doing, maybe you need to change what you're doing.

    It's only for the short-term.

I personally think that everyday in life you try to be honest and good to people. if you fail, which you will because we are all humans, you become better by recognizing it, apologizing, and start all over again. This is a process you internally go thru every day of your life. As time goes on you become a better person, hence, deceit is no longer a part of your life. I also believe in Karma. Anything that is started out wrong way ends up the wrong way. Quote from Don Miguel Ruiz, "...When you are impeccable with your word, you feel good; you feel happy and at peace." “Be Impeccable With Your Word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.”
