Giving Thanks To Those Who Made The Difference

Have any of you reached out to those from your past who made such an impact on your life? Did you ever think you impacted them as well?

Reason I ask is that another thread got me thinking about who it was that gave me the nudge I needed to take my own direction in life and I realized it was a teacher back in high school. He got my head out of my a** and put me back on the right path. Anyways last night I sought him out (oh the wonders of the internet), turned out he is still a teacher so and email later I told him the difference he made in my life and this morning I got a response. Of all the thousands of students he has taught in 20+ years he still remembers me and said he thought about me often wondering where life had taken me.

Just this little email made me realize that sometimes we do things for other people that without realizing changes their entire lives, and makes all the difference in the world to them.

IS there anyone you should thank for where you are right now?

Sylvia

I recently thanked a person who I felt has helped me out quite a bit over the last year. They didn't really respond from my thanks in an oral way, but I bet that they deep down appreciated to here my thanks for all their help.

Its strange what you say, it clicks with me. I can count on one hand the people who have influenced me most. I can even remember the moment it happened and exactly what they said!!

One example was an ex boss who took me into his office one day after some indecision on my part. All he said was, 'Bobby just f****** do it!

Since then I don't hesitate to take action, so I should thank him for that

Thats is exactly my point, when it really comes down to it we know that there are a few major players in our lives but for the most part they don't know they are or were. It has really turned somethings around for me, realizing I changed his life too. Think of all those you are impacting each day, how are you impacting their lives and if it is in a negative way what can you do to change that, to make yourself someone who they look back on and go thanks.

That's a very touching story, Sylvia.

I know my family would love to really hear how much I appreciate them and the impact they've had on my life. This post reminded me of that and inspired me to push past that little bit of awkwardness that I feel when my feelings are "exposed".

    Thank you for that
